  1. Didn't say Scott called Woodley. He called the school and talked to coaches. Kids can call coaches as well without any problems.
  2. Rivals never took him off being a Cincy commitment -- he committed to Cincinnati before USF visit.
  3. Honestly, for USF fans, if Cincy was leading after last weekend, Wilder not announcing is probably an encouraging development for USF ...
  4. This thread is not a good example of high-level message-board discussion.
  5. It's not that it's a hoax. It's just early. If he's going to make a move, it'll be after spring semester.
  6. The stuff about USF is from Tom Jones. He quotes Vitale directly when Vitale says something. Sorry not to clear this up earlier, just missed it.
  7. Just a warning: Last year's first two commits were both from Immokalee and neither will be at USF ...
  8. That's just the title to a message-board thread. Doesn't mean much ...
  9. Is there a conference tournament right now where every basketball team doesn't go?
  10. There's an important distinction to make: USF isn't saying all offers made under Holtz will be honored. USF is saying all offers that were accepted by players committing to play at USF before the coaching change will be honored by the new staff. USF probably offered 100-plus kids under Holtz. There's no way they could honor all of those.
  11. I really gain nothing by chiming in here on a story I didn't write, but why not? Let me start with a general statement: You "FAIL!" guys have no idea what you're talking about. I think the level of discourse on this thread is summed up outstandingly by the combined spelling, noun-verb agreement and sheer anatomical difficulty of a sentence like "The Times has it's head up their butts." USF can't comment publicly about a recruit. We can't quote a university official about a recruitable athlete, or else they risk being unable to sign that athlete. We can certainly do other things -- can go well out of our way -- to make sure there is balance in a story in which only one side can comment. Every effort was made over the past 60 hours to get a very accurate sense of what happened from all sides. There were no objections from USF about the accuracy of Monday's report, or Tuesday's column in response to that. Yes, USF could have put out a fire much more effectively by sending out the same message Monday morning instead of 48 hours later. If I'm leaving anything out, it's not to protect the Times.
  12. KB: First story, second paragraph: "Rafferty's mother, Tracy, confirmed that USF has rescinded its scholarship offer to her son ..." Confirmed, as in, second person corroborating high school coach who called newspaper to tell us same thing ...
  13. Sorry on Wilkie/Willie. Tweeting while driving to Shrine Game practice. Databull, this is on the Times? HS coach and kid said USF rescinded offer, but we're wrong to allow them to say that? Let me work on that apology ...
  14. Kevin Gidrey came in from ECU. Kore White is same situation in basketball.
  15. For what it's worth, his high school coach has heard nothing about this, nor has WKU's football SID. Not saying it can't happen, just saying.
  16. Rick Smith carried the assistant head coach tag in addition to being DBs coach under Holtz. And the third Bucs assistant would be WRs coach P.J. Fleck, now head coach at Western Michigan ...
  17. I'm guessing Taggart will have five assistants on defense, since he is essentially a fifth offensive coach.
  18. That's a tough call. Blackwell has local connections in St. Pete and Tampa, but does he know coaches and programs all over the state? Franks has recruited the state for 20 years and had the organizational skills that come with being a D-I head coach. Hard to replace that.
  19. Remember that Pierre-Paul was gone after one year, so his impact from the 2009 class ended in 2009, and Williams in 2010. Two of the biggest gems of the class.
  20. How few? Pierre-Paul and Williams in the NFL with Super Bowl rings. Let's just talk about multi-year starters: Griffin, Webster, Barrington, Lattimore. Lamar was Big East Special Teams Player of the Year. Marc had 54 catches in his career. Jenkins and Sager are returning starters. Bass started for a year. Giddins still has a year left, same for Forte, Hopkins. Sure, there are a dozen guys out of 29 that didn't amount to much if they made it to campus at all. Not a bad class at all, or disappointing.
  21. It's actually an official site -- they call it a secondary site -- more for recruiting, etc. ... turns out Shannon wasn't removed -- he simply wasn't added to the coaches page in the first place when he was hired ...
