  1. Chandler redshirted in 2010, so he had to burn a year when he was ineligible last year. Redshirt sophomore this fall, so three years left. Thanks much for the kind words.
  2. My understanding is that the Cowboys' accident has made indoor facilities considerably more expensive, but also a lot safer. And USF would be looking at a structure that would be a fieldhouse -- more than just a hollow building with a field inside. Again, still a lot of details to be worked out and funds to be raised. But it's very much a when, not an if.
  3. USF has an open scholarship. Heath was very, very high on Clanton coming out of high school. Clanton had USF among his final choices. If he wants to stay close to his family in Orlando, USF's the closest program in any kind of major conference.
  4. Boyd has wanted very much to stay with team. Holtz put some specific stipulations on his returning, and those weren't met. There was some talk about him staying in school at USF and paying his own way. I know he's not part of the team.
  5. Engagement isn't a grounds for a hardship waiver. There are other things in play. Not sure if it's enough to get a waiver.
  6. It would be a 5-1-2 model initially, then potentially a 6-1-1 (or 6-1-2) once Navy (and its as-yet-undecided classmate) arrive in 2015.
  7. Old version of IE. Nice. Mozilla Firefox, baby.
  8. Didn't say anything about neck. Hip injury in Wednesday's practice. (Not sure why it's numbering my comment)
  9. I've been asking USF for season ticket numbers for a while. They aren't disclosing anything right now.
  10. The supplemental draft that already took place? I think the deadline for that has passed.
  11. Posted this in comments on my blog. Talked to Fraser when I was in Oklahoma City for NCAA softball, day after he committed. Here's what he said -- you tell me if you consider it a commitment by any reasonable standard: I asked him if he was confident his commitment was firm, if anything would change if other offers came along: "I'm pretty stuck with it right now. There's only other two schools that could really change my mind. Right now, I'm with USF." What are those two schools? "Georgia and Mississippi State. (MSU) verballed me. They were going to offer me, but they want me to come and view the campus and everything."Are you going to take that visit?"Yes, sir. I'm still going to take all my visits this summer, go to camps this summer and everything." Sounds like you're committed, but still involved in the recruiting process. "It's a soft verbal." Last week, he picked up an offer from Ole Miss. Not saying he won't sign with USF, just saying he doesn't sound like a commitment.
  12. Guys, you don't have to believe what I'm saying, but USF isn't pursuing him.
  13. A newspaper reporter would not be considered a representative of a school's interests by NCAA guidelines.
  14. Nupe has a good point. I don't think it's a given that he's off the team. Bad, bad decision, and the details show a fair amount of awareness in what he was doing, even after that initial decision to take something that isn't yours. But if he was in good standing with Holtz -- if his grades and attitude were what the coach wants from a walk-on, this could be strike 1 and strike 2, absolutely, but not necessarily strike three. You can justify going either way with it.
  15. Blackwell had a coaching position under Holtz.
  16. His compensation is split into "base salary" of $500,000 and "additional compensation" of $1.5 million. If he's fired without cause, he gets the base salary remaining on the contract.
  17. If Holtz is fired "without cause" -- i.e., for simply not winning enough, etc. -- the buyout for USF is $500,000 per remaining year on his contract. In that sense, the new contract represents another $1.5-million guaranteed to Holtz beyond the contract he had previously signed.
  18. Breit is not yet on scholarship. Mike Walsh, long-snapper last three years and a Plant grad, was on scholarship at end of his USF career.
  19. Heath's assistant pool got about a 20 percent bump, from $435,000 to $520,000.
  20. Only current player who played for Rams is Kore White, the FAU transfer.
  21. Great turnout. More than 120 questions in there. Thanks much and here's the archive for anyone who missed it: http://www.tampabay.com/blogs/bulls/content/today-noon-chat-greg
  22. Thanks very much for the plug. Hope to have a lively crowd ...
  23. It's very cool if you ever get the chance to check it out. Even when it's idling, it's like a wall-sized screensaver with a bull pacing around. Lots of videos and info -- I'd think it's a smart way to get information to visitors, whether they be recruits or potential donors or regular fans.
  24. Haven't been able to get in touch with Soslan, but he is now expected as a walk-on on the team this fall, though he can't play until 2013. Might not go to Vero as part of the 105 because he can't play for another year, but he'll be with team on first day of school.
