    Mut's made some nice catches, but he'll redshirt. Actually had his right arm in a sling the other day. Nearly all the receivers are back in 2013, so might be another year before he can make a significant impact.

    Lynch leaving after 2013 would be two years early. Would be draft eligible after redshirt sophomore year.

    Smith was also careful to say Bivins has been limited by his knee, that most players wouldn't even be as far along in rehab as Bivins has gotten to be able to be on the field. He's very high on Bivins and Spencer, just doesn't want to play them this year. Specifically said it would be "an injustice" to Bivins to have him play this year based on where he is right now. He said if he takes a week off, comes back feeling better, things could still change.

    Smith said yesterday that Josh Brown and walk-on Antonio Hughes are competing for the fifth (and essentially final) cornerback spot.

    I'm not sure Bivins will play this season. Holtz specifically said yesterday that no freshman cornerbacks have stepped up. With No. 3 offense against No. 3 defense in red zone, Bivins was flagged for obvious pass interference on a walk-on receiver, Clinton Jones, to put the ball at the 2. Not saying he won't play, but I don't think he helped himself too much in Vero.

    Terrence Mitchell was held out with minor neck injury -- that's why he wasn't deep on punts. He should be fine ...

    Just to update -- Holtz says Daniel Perry will play this fall if he can establish himself among top five DEs. Lynch would have to redshirt for that to happen, but as it stands Perry and Edsel Caprice (moved back from LB) are competing for fifth DE spot.

    Perry won't play this year unless there are additional injuries. No real reason to play a second true freshman at same position with existing depth. Put 15 pounds on Perry and he could be an outstanding pass-rusher -- he could be 6-8 by time he gets on the field. Pierre has a redshirt available, so does Josh Brown. Lawrence Martin does not. Fidel Montgomery would, but he'll play this fall.

    They'll both play. I don't remember saying that Price would crack the starters, but he'll certainly play.
