  1. Yeah, I wouldn't trust this in terms of making travel plans. Could be right -- it's either 12, 3 or 3:30, so safe to say Tampa folks can catch the game with only one night in hotel, one way or the other ...
  2. If you really wanted to preserve Bobby Eveld's redshirt, say, if Floyd got the start but was injured, you could fill in by playing one of the redshirting freshmen, either Tommy Eveld or Trenton Miller, knowing either one could redshirt next year if they played in 2012.
  3. Eveld's played Miami twice before, beat them in 2010, so he has a real experience advantage for this specific opponent. If you're Eveld, you might trade in a season if you knew you had one start that could lead to two more ...
  4. Eppes has been a linebacker for more than a year. If something happened to Floyd, I'd think they would go to Victor Marc in a direct-snap situation, rather than burn a player's redshirt with three games left in season.
  5. Eveld's redshirting this season. Floyd beat him out for job in preseason. Logic is that No. 3 won't get enough plays to justify using up year of eligibility -- now Eveld has two years post-Daniels.
  6. I'll say it again: I can't take your "next USF head coach" suggestion seriously if you don't know how to spell your guy's name correctly.
  7. Is USF stacked at receiver? Looking like 3 scholarship receivers healthy for Saturday. Three walk-ons lining up on second-team offense in practice ... Mitchell is only healthy player at any position with even 100 yards receiving.
  8. He'll have a good shot at being a starting corner in 2013, more so having worked with the 2nd-team defense much of the season, as opposed to working on the scout team as a redshirt. He's been limited by the knee injury or he would have played more ...
  9. Checked few hours ago. Still in hospital in stable condition. Good chance he could be released later today.
  10. USFgrad84 ... being tied is not having a lead. And not sure you should really count blown leads if you still won the game ... still a very high number.
  11. I count seven games in which USF led in fourth quarter and lost, another four in which game was tied in fourth quarter and USF lost. Twice, USF has blown fourth-quarter leads, only to win in overtime. If I'm missing something in that count, let me know ... (this is all since start of 2010 season)
  12. The question was asked about a defensive player. Lamar and Hopkins are certainly two you could point to on offense...
  13. The NCAA allows a closed scrimmage -- no media, no fans, nobody in attendance. No score posted. Coaches aren't even allowed to talk about specific details from the scrimmage.
  14. Sorry to step in, but mviusa is just ignorant here. He cites what Georgetown did in the 2009 Women's NIT, but neglects to mention the last three years: 26-7, 24-11, 23-9 -- three trips to NCAA Tournament, including Sweet 16 in 2011. The Hoyas have been a top 25 team the last five times USF played them -- including an upset win for the Bulls in 2011 in Tampa. Absolutely, it would have been huge for USF to keep Faith Woodard at home, but Georgetown has been one of the Big East's best women's basketball programs in the last three years, so it's not a shock to lose a top recruit to the Hoyas.
  15. Louisville struggled with FIU and Southern Miss, even if weather played a role in that. This is a game that should mean more to them, but they've played down to opponents consistently.
  16. It was fun to imagine the guy on the left screen back at mission control constantly checking monitors was actually watching NFL Sunday Ticket.
  17. Holtz kept McGeoghan, Scott and Patrick as full-time assistants, plus several full-time staff members (Carl Franks, Rich Rachel, Larry Antonucci, Jamie DeGerome). Honestly more than many coaches would coming into a new situation.
  18. Why would Miami give up on Golden after two seasons? He's 4-2 with his only losses to top-10 teams, no? 3-0 to open ACC play.
  19. Watched replay, thought he dragged the foot. Only need one. Great catch.
  20. At risk of letting your imaginations run wild, I think he just doesn't want to field football questions.
  21. He's said that. He'll usually say that they have to improve as coaches and as players, but I think it's OK to ask the players to share in improving.
  22. Just to be clear, folks: Holtz didn't say his team played a great game. AP story is not quoting him accurately. Go here to my recording of his postgame presser and check the 2:50 mark: he's talking about what should motivate his team: "We play a great game. We represent a great university. We're all hurting a little bit. ..."
