  1. If Lynch leaves, it will be a very young group at DE -- Lee, Perry, Mike Love and then Eric Mayes in January. I'd think USF should be able to land a top-tier DE (perhaps even from juco) in this class in anticipation of playing-time opportunities.
  2. Sapp never played under Bresnahan. Just missed each other -- Bresnahan finished in Oakland in 2003, Sapp got there in 2004.
  3. Media had two sessions where we had access to coaches -- 40-minute session earlier, then the podium time for the website. Taggart had bunch of writers talking to him throughout the earlier breakout session -- folks in the podium room are only a small portion of media here ...
  4. This is at least the third thread noticing that ESPN has put a link up to its American blog.
  5. American schools are bringing between two and four players each. USF is bringing two. They certainly can talk to the media while there.
  6. Article came out yesterday from Grantland. ...
  7. Coordinators and assistant coaches won't be available after games. Just Taggart and players.
  8. ESPN added a blog for the American recently -- if you go to their college football page, then click on "blog" -- it's the first link, as "AAC" ... I don't think they'll have a blogger on the league full-time, just a page where they can put stories that reference teams from the league. Bennett has covered Big Ten since he left the Big East beat, so not sure why he'd be involved ... http://espn.go.com/blog/aac
  9. C'mon now, don't change his quote. He said 9 or 10 offensive starters of scholarship quality. That's out of 11, not out of the whole team. South Alabama was a startup program that hadn't played a game when he got there, so it's a legitimate thing to say.
  10. Cosh isn't coaching right now. Best I can tell, neither is Jerome Pathon, Kevin Patrick or Peter Vaas. Think everyone else latched on somewhere -- Shankweiler at FIU, Scott at Miami, Fitch at BC, Hargreaves at Houston, Rick Smith at ECU. Joe Sloan is with Skip at Louisiana Tech.
  11. Odd. Happened back in May ... https://twitter.com/USFFootball/status/336859876959600640
  12. Not sure where that info is coming from -- if you go to Stubhub, there's like 400 tickets available to the game -- tons available under $50 each. http://www.stubhub.com/temple-owls-football-tickets/temple-vs-houston-9-7-2013-4252844/ If you went to USF's game at Temple this past season, you'd see that Bulls fans don't need to be envious of Temple's hold in Philadelphia. Losing Addazio won't help. ...
  13. It's just a glitch as they change conferences. The WAC is still in the scrolldown of options, as is the Big East. Just an awkward stop between last year's teams and this year's.
  14. http://www.tampabay.com/blogs/bulls/suspended-wr-dunkley-resolves-legal-issues/2123372
  15. Checked again last night after the Bench tweet, but officially, they're not saying anything about Dunkley's status with the team. We'll get an update when/if he's reinstated, I'm told.
  16. Having prominent players in the NFL like Jason Pierre-Paul, having first-round picks like Mike Jenkins, that's important in recruiting. Kids want to know a school can be a path to success in the NFL. Especially on defense, USF has established that. Offseason roster numbers aren't as important as having visible players in the league.
  17. That's true in June, yes. Might not have the same advantage in September.
  18. He spent three days at a minicamp Bucks held for unsigned free agents. Wasn't signed out of there ...
  19. If you're going to compare Griffin's four-year production with Davis' two-year production, it's only fair to mention to mention they've played in the exact same number of games. People like Griffin because he battled through two major injuries, because his commitment in high school (over his father's alma mater) helped the Bulls land Kayvon Webster on signing day, because he was a big part of perhaps the biggest play in one of USF's biggest wins, at Florida State. Griffin's per-game production is comparable to Davis: nine fewer catches, two fewer touchdowns in 23 games. Just saying ...
  20. I think his decision is just between getting a degree at USF or getting one online where he doesn't have to move his family from Orlando.
  21. Just one of those can't-win deals. If USF isn't mentioned, they're ignoring USF. If USF has a low projection, they're disrespecting USF. If USF is too high, they're jinxing USF. Sigh.
  22. Lots of info in Sentinel story posted today. Still coaching at Evans, hasn't made a decision. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/highschool/os-hs-chucky-atkins-usf-or-evans-0621-20130620,0,7911181.story?track=rss
  23. She was ridiculously positive about USF. Specifically cited USF as the school she thinks is poised to move up in the standings. What problem could you possibly have with what she said?
