  1. Louisville lost to FIU 24-17 in 2011. Not a bad FIU team that year though. They had an SEC QB transfer starting for them (forget his name), and T. Y. Hilton at receiver. That was Mario Cristobal coaching FIU at the time, and Cristobal is the guy I'd like to see replace Strong should he leave.
  2. If CCS moves on, I wouldn't see it as a great thing, or a terrible thing. I'd certainly take him over Skip Holtz any day, but I don't think him and Sterlin are a great fit here. I can see them getting us 8-9 wins consistently, but not winning the conference. I'm ok with CCS, but not overly excited about him either. Really doesn't matter too much to me what he decides to do. Seems he would be a better fit in the SEC or Big10.
  3. This is true. I took a look at the FIU blog when they hired Butch Davis, and they were referring to themselves as "sleeping giants", even though the reality is that they are in danger of losing their FBS status due to attendance. I wonder why they single out Texas Tech with the tard thing....
  4. Did you read some of the posts? While your points may be correct, the perception of some of their fans is that we are nobody from a G5 conference.
  5. One of their fans responded, "yuck", at the thought of playing us. They see us the way we might have seen a bowl game against FIU. I'm somewhat confident we beat them though. They are arguably the second best team we play this year, just ahead of Houston.
  6. LoL.....Good point. I heard a thousand guesses at who our bowl opponent might be. I don't recall Texas Tech being mentioned. Should be a fun game.
  7. I guess that blow-out loss to an unranked Iowa was too much to overlook. Wasn't sure who was going to get the nod here...
  8. It might have something to do with: 3,971 yards...36 TDs.....9 INTs. Those are great numbers, no matter who it was against. QF played against an equally bad, or worse schedule. That was strange that Ferguson was somehow completely oblivious to the play clock at times vs. UCF. They still put up 55 points. You can debate whether or not he's better than QF, but the guy had a great year.
  9. FAU has a VERY good offense, and it's a game I doubt we'd would be up for, but you know FAU would be up for it. That could potentially be like our bowl game against WKU a couple years ago. As far as Kiffin goes, I think there's zero chance he leaves FAU for us if Strong were to bolt. He's already said he plans to return to next year. Only a P5 job would tear him away. Would love to have him here though.
  10. He's also sticking around for the bowl game. IIRC, Brian Kelly bolted before the Cincy-Florida bowl game when he was hired by Notre Dame. Good for Frost that he decided to see it through...
  11. FIU would be the worst case scenario. I'd be ok with any of the other possibilities mentioned...even FAU.
  12. The Black Friday game had to help somehow. Not sure the criteria used when deciding on teams for expansion though. Some of they teams they had as the favorites for expansion were in smaller TV markets..
  13. Not that it means anything, but I saw more than one prediction of UCF & Cincinnati around the time the Big12 was still trying to decide. I would think the package deal would be likely, but there's no telling.
  14. We need throw the "package deal" thing around as much as possible, because if only one of us are picked during the next round of conference expansion, the outcome will be one that we won't like....
  15. Neither has anybody else at USF, but he certainly turned things around. Great job of recruiting, leaving talent and depth for the current coaching staff. Not sure how often we'll have a trio like Flowers/Mack/Adams, which worked out very well with the GCO. The bad losses you mentioned are forgiven as far as I'm concerned. Instead of being stubborn, he changed up the offense and found some success. Hard for me to come up with anything negative to say about what he left behind here......
  16. Will be really interesting to see who emerges as the starting QB next season. Kean was the definite #2 at one time, but they had been splitting reps in mop-up duty this year. Chris O. looks a tad more mobile. Not sure which way that goes.
  17. We should be good at WR and RB. Will lose two starters on the OL. QB will be interesting. Some here think there will be a huge drop-off without Flowers, but I suspect we will be fine on offense with Kean or Olakudon, based on the extremely limited action I've seen of them.
  18. I once saw a long sleeved Bulls Tshirt that had a giant Bulls logo that started on the front of the shirt, and wrapped around the side to the back. Can't find it anywhere online. Anyone seen this, or know where it can be purchased?
  19. I saw an article where Kiffin said he liked his situation at FAU and was going to be back next year. We shall see.
  20. He got off to a decent start here, then slowly went downhill after that Notre Dame game. A lot of close loses with Skip. Always uses to hear that our 5-7 team was 5 plays away from being 10-2. He has three down-to-the- wire losses at La tech this year. 4 losses in 2015, 5 in 2016, 6 this year. This is the same guy that, on more than one occasion, would sit on two timeouts and let the last 30 seconds of the half run off before kicking a short FG. Hard to believe that Arkansas can't do better the Holtz.
