  1. I wouldn't bet on this. I was hoping to see Kean get some garbage time reps in some of our blowouts last season, but there were a few such games where Strong wouldn't put him in for whatever reason.
  2. I hope you are wrong about this. The absolute unknown at QB is what makes it so hard to predict. We seem solid enough in all phases though that we can probably go 9-3 or maybe 10-2 with average to slightly above average QB play.
  3. I agree with this, but of course, CWT deserves credit for recruiting the likes of QF, MM, and bringing in Kinnan, and getting things turned around here. He may not have had sustained success, but we were WAY better off when he left than when he arrived, and did the same at WKU. Plus, he's done well enough to land a pretty prestigious job, and make a whole lot of $$$.
  4. Who said we were, and what difference did it make? We deserved to be #2 because we were undefeated, beat a ranked Auburn team on the road and a top 5 WVU, and had a few teams ranked ahead of us lose. I would say if you're ranked #2 midway through the season, playing for a National Championship would be a possibility. I don't recall anybody saying that we were the second best team in the country, but we were #2 for a minute thanks to other teams getting knocked off, and were absolutely deserving to be there. When we were ranked #2, every game looked winnable going forward, but that mid-season swoon thing seemed pretty consistent with CJL.
  5. Our destiny presumably was in our own hands in 2007 when we were ranked #2, so we've been in position before. As far "will never win one", I would say we probably won't any time soon, but we have no idea what the future holds. I certainly wouldn't bet on us getting there while in the AAC, but Houston was pretty well positioned a couple years back when they beat Oklahoma in the opening week, and were ranked #6 early in the season before squandering it against Navy. I think the next few years will be important for the program. We will need to do whatever we can to make ourselves attractive when the next, and maybe final round of expansion comes around. It sucks that people are losing interest at a time when the program needs support more than ever, but the OP is understandable.
  6. I have a couple coworkers from Miami who have asked me if I wanted to go down there for a game, but when I ask them if they want to go to a USF game, they look at me like.....are you even being serious?? I think most college football fans look at us and the AAC as small-time football. Nobody in this conference will ever retain a half-decent coach for very long, which leaves each team in a constant state of rebuilding. Not sure my enthusiasm is where it once was, but I still have enough to never miss any games. I still have hope that the P5 will come knocking. If we do get left out of the next round of expansion though, I'm pretty sure that they will assess whether or not it's worth it to even field a team anymore..
  7. I was still kind of new to USF football at the time, but other than his rapping performance, my main memory of Delbert was him wildly shanking a few FGs against Auburn. He had a 20-something yard attempt in that game, and it seemed like the ball sailed out of bounds at about the five yard line. Not sure what his career numbers looked like, but he seemed to choke under the bright lights on that night. Thankfully, he made the one at the end of regulation that sent that game into overtime. Great win that night.
  8. That name hilariously stands out on Ned's list. Was waiting for someone to say something about that. Did it ever come out what happened to him?
  9. Was in Arizona last week, and actually had a few "Go Bulls" comments between Scottsdale and Sedona...
  10. Assuming we don't get a P5 invite.... 1) Conference Championship in football and winning an NY6 bowl 2) Conference Championship in Women's Basketball (Overcoming UConn) 3) Men's Basketball getting back to the tourney 4) IPF coming to fruition 5) Continue to grow attendance Assuming we do get a P5 invite.... 1) Winning the ACC/Big12, and making it to the playoffs (this obviously would take time) 2) OCS/Top notch facilities (more doable with P5 money rolling in) 3) Consistent top 20 recruiting classes (Football) 4) Men's Basketball consistently reaching the tourney 5) Packing RayJay, and having the type of atmosphere we had in the WVU game of 2007 on a somewhat regular basis.
  11. I think that having 3 or 4 of the same teams being very good (most Power conferences have this) every year could help the conference some. So far, the conference winners have been: 2013: UCF 2014: Memphis, Cincy, UCF (three way tie) 2015: Houston 2016: Temple 2017: UCF The revolving door of coaching will always give a feeling of disarray to this conference. UCF went from BCS champs, to winless, to undefeated in a short period of time. I think that pretty much sums up what this conference will be for all it's members. Constantly having to rebuild with new coaches, no consistent powerhouse teams.
  12. Exactly. Also, any AAC team would need to string several very good seasons together to really maintain any kind of national attention, which is hard to do when the Power conferences constantly poach any decent coaches. If UCF starts going downhill with Huepel, they will instantly be forgotten about by everyone outside the AAC. The whole system doesn't work out very well for the have-nots.
  13. I agree with you here. They have helped raise the profile of the AAC a bit. Many on this board will pull for any AAC team in any OOC game, especially against P5 opponents, for that very reason. The conference is better with the addition of UCF. More eyes on them will at some point lead to more eyes on us. Of course the biggest beneficiary of UCF being invited to the AAC is UCF, but it benefits the entire conference as well, at least when they are having this kind of success.
  14. So, there's no rule anywhere that might say that if a conference were to average a certain TV rating over a given time period, or average a certain attendance, they would gain P6 status? It basically comes down to a TV network deciding to allow us in? I doubt either of those two metrics would ever get us in anyway, but is it written anywhere what exactly it would take?
  15. What criteria would the AAC have to meet to become a "Power" conference? Are there any set guidelines for this? I don't see another entire conference being added. Two or four teams maybe, which I believe we have a decent shot of being included in that, along with UCF.
  16. Visibility? The USF-UCF game this past season was voted by at least one website to be the game of the year, college or pro, in any sport. The rivalry is beginning to get some attention, and as long as they're doing well, it just puts a bigger spotlight on us for at least that one game we play them each year. Having a good UCF team come to town would draw a greater than average crowd. We'll take whatever we can get when it comes to spotlight and attendance.
  17. CWT inherited heap of turd from Holtz, and left Strong with a very good team. It's all a matter of opinion, but I would consider what he did here a success. He brought the most exciting offense we've ever seen here, got us players like Mack, QF, Adams, etc. The program is definitely better for his time here.
  18. The guy front & center with the shotgun, that must have been his first time going shirtless outdoors. I have a feeling that if you're a minority walking through the woods, you'd probably have good reason to be nervous if you happen to run into these dudes. That guy in the shirt looks familiar.
  19. I'm assuming that would be the one with the Biohazard thing on his chest? BTW, can any of them kick a football? Also, just guessing here, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that none of those dudes are Democrats.
  20. What's the guy in the Tar Heels shirt have in his hand?
