  1. Different George Allen. This game was in 1916, The Redskins Coach George Allen was born in 1918. That caught my attention too....
  2. Yep. I thought Cosh went too, but it isn't mentioned in the article, however, our game vs. McNeese was... https://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2015/10/10/9494755/portland-state-vikings-football-washington-state-north-texas-fcs-win-records
  3. Or SoTampaBull (AKA Don G.)? Met him at an ECU game at RayJay during the Taggart era. Nice guy. Haven't seen him on here in quite some time...
  4. The largest loss at the time, anyway. Portland State (FCS) beat North Texas (FBS) 66-7 in 2015..and the one touchdown from North Texas came in the final minute of the game when Portland State had their 2nd string defense in. I believe Chris Cosh was DC for North Texas at the time too...
  5. I read that they shortened the third and fourth quarters to 12 minutes rather than 15.
  6. Same here. Very interesting matchup. Looking forward to seeing what Barnett can do against that defense, and how our defense deals with their option. Really difficult one to predict...
  7. I thought I was pulling up the USF-Elon game from this past week on YouTube, but saw Grothe warming up on the field after I hit play
  8. Harmless. Were we doing this back when we were in the Big East with WVU? Would have been funny to do a "Girls of WVU" with unflattering pics of women missing teeth, etc..
  9. This I know, but they were ranked when we played them in 2008, and were pretty consistently ranked at that time. Now, they are FCS level it seems.
  10. I was unable to see the game. I saw that they averaged 3.9 yards per carry....the exact same as we did. Opinions on our Offensive Line? Defense compared to last year?
  11. McCants walks around campus with UCF DBs clinging to his shirt and dragging behind him
  12. Of course, the schedule and the conference we reside in won't allow this, but it doesn't mean we can't have a great year.
  13. Beside the fact that I haven't seen our offense yet with Barnett at QB, the option thing with GT makes this game really difficult to predict. I can never tell how our games vs. Navy will look, and I have that same feeling here. The option isn't something we have to deal with often. Very interesting match-up though.
  14. How about a third undefeated team (FAU)? They are ahead of us in the preseason poll, and have Oklahoma(#7) & UCF(#21) on the road. Highly unlikely they beat Oklahoma, but that could be a tricky game, especially being in week 1. FAU looked awfully good in their last 6 or 7 games last year, and finished just outside the Top 25. If they get by Oklahoma somehow, which I doubt, but if it happens, they could be a team to watch.
  15. Hmmm.....Boise does have OK State on the road this year, and they are beginning the season ranked. Who knows what the SOS will look like at the end of the season, but Boise has 4 opponents receiving votes from the AP in the pre-season poll (Troy, OK State, Fresno, & SDSU), so the gap in SOS might not be that gigantic, and they have a head start. Hope you're right, but if we both run the table, I don't think it's a guarantee that we pass them in the rankings. I guess we should probably worry about Elon first though....
  16. This is a worry for me as well. I know it's 2018 and a different group of guys, but Navy put up a ton of yardage on us the last couple of meeting, and GT will have far superior athletes (I'm assuming) than Navy. Really hard to predict what that's going to look like....
