  1. Hmmm....Skip did beat Miami, Notre Dame, Clemson, and a Charlie Strong-coached Louisville team. He ended up driving the program into the ground (I'm confident Charlie will do the opposite), but Skip actually did have similar wins...
  2. I'm absolutely pleased with that win, and like what I'm seeing so far. GT seems to be a decent opponent with a difficult offense to stop. Love the way we battled, but again, it's early, and it's hard to tell how big a deal beating GT is. I hope they do well and help our SOS, but my guess is 7-5 or 6-6. I have a better feeling about our team than last year's team. The Barnett/Gilbert marriage looks like it's going to work very well. While I agree that there is a positive difference in Strong this year, it's Gilbert who I really have a better feeling about. He's got his man running the offense now. As much as I like and appreciate Q, I don't think Gilbert's offense quite hit it's full potential with him. I think that can happen with Barnett.
  3. I am a little more optimistic about Charlie and Sterlin so far this year, and I'm sensing that Charlie is happier and more settled in with this program now. However, it seems that a lot of the optimism on the board stems from the GT win, but I'm not sure about the quality of that win yet. It was a great game, and it always feels good to win, but GT was 5-7 last year, and could very well have a similar record this year. Houston and UCF are potentially better wins. Not sure what to feel about getting past a middling ACC team that kind of handed that game to us. Whatever the case, I do have a good feeling about this season, and it should be fun to watch.
  4. The win against GT was a fun win over a mediocre P5 team as well, but could end up being meaningful if it helps get us the NY6 spot...
  5. Or even Texas Tech. GT was 5-6 last year, and not sure if they are expected to be any better this year. A thrilling win for sure, but it is not a whole lot different than South Carolina or Texas Tech.
  6. Anyone know of any reputable online gambling sites, and would you be able to use it with a Florida address?
  7. This would be pretty hilarious. Somehow, I don't see Charlie approving of this though..
  8. Boise looked good on both sides of the ball though, even though the opponent was crap. I think their upcoming game is at Oklahoma State this week. Certainly a game of interest for us. Not sure we catch Boise in the rankings in the case of both of us going undefeated.
  9. It certainly helped that Mr. Barnett decided to enroll here. Not sure what we'd be saying about Strong right now if Kean or Olakudon was running the offense today...
  10. I'm not comfortable with him running this much, but pleased with the results nonetheless.
  11. I was completely unfamiliar with Horne before this game. Don't remember hearing his name at all during the offseason. A pleasant out-of-the-blue surprise.
  12. Pretty much agree here. Even the pass play on 4th & 1 wasn't a bad call, considering we were stuffed on the previous two plays. I must say, Barnett has been outstanding, especially considering that he hasn't played much at all over the past couple of years, and the fact that he was just recently named the starting QB. Really fun to watch.
  13. I'm looking at the 6.1 yards per carry so far. A long way to go, but I'm getting the feeling that GT will surpass 300 yards rushing on us. Hope I'm wrong..
  14. Not saying they did, but we didn't out-athlete them by much, if at all. We weren't all that great when we were against teams of similar talent. Houston got lucky though.
  15. He will probably see a little more pressure today. Will be interesting to see how he deals with that. Another thing that was mentioned on this board several times last season, is what will happen when we can't out-athlete the opponent, which last season, that would have been Houston, UCF, and Texas Tech. We went 1-2 in those games. We won't out-athlete GT. Good test for this coaching staff here...
  16. No doubt about this. They will have better athletes on defense than Elon had also, and BB hasn't had a ton of time running this offense. Lighting up Elon is one thing, but this will be different. Would love to see him shine today though. I have high hopes for this guy.
  17. Check out the part about #2 teams in 2007. I don't recall California or Kansas reaching #2 that year.... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_NCAA_Division_I_FBS_football_season
  18. Yep. I had the same feeling about this game... Close second was the Auburn game. That game was just a Roller Coaster with all the missed field goals, etc. I don't remember yelling at the TV as much as I did in that game. Absolutely a thrilling game.
