  1. This is absolutely hilarious. The fact that others took you serious made it even more so. Some creative, top-notch sarcasm here...
  2. Wow. From #39 to #28 by beating Illinois?? I'll take it. You may end up being right on your estimate of us being 18-25 by the time we get to Houston..
  3. BYU still has games at Washington and at Boise, and they already have a loss. Certainly they will have one more. North Texas has a very good chance to run the table it appears, but the SOS should keep us ahead of them, as long as we keep winning. Houston's offense against our defense is the biggest worry right now.
  4. North Texas is 3-0. They just blew out Arkansas on the road. Wouldn't shock me if they jumped us.
  5. Yes, 24 or 25 tops. It would take an unbelievable amount of attrition, and us winning every game by 70 to get to #20 or higher.
  6. 7-0, yes, but I'm not sure we even crack the Top 25 at that point. We went into the Illinois game at #39. Not sure Illinois, East Carolina, UMass, Tulsa, and UConn will be enough to get us there.
  7. By the way, did anybody catch Strong Post-game? Sounded like he said that he told the team before the game that he knew they weren't prepared, that they weren't focused. Strange thing to say I thought...
  8. Well....it's hard to say I guess. Not sure today's product gets past Houston or UCF. Temple would have been a toss-up. Yes we are making plays, but the penalties, turnovers, etc might be too much to overcome against better teams. We'll see better teams than Illinois this season. We need to be better than we showed today IMO..
  9. Considering this, he has done an outstanding job, and these past two wins has to speed up the learning curve, and boost his confidence. My main concern with him is the same thing that's been mentioned by several others on this board....he often zeroes in on one receiver, then takes off if it's not available. Hopefully that gets corrected.
  10. Could be. There's no guarantee that we improve. If what we've seen is what it's going to be, then yes...3 or 4 losses looks likely. Illinois had several starters out, a Freshman QB who looked like a freshman QB, and they're not supposed to be that great to begin with, and we still barely won. But this team is winning games while still trying to get on the same page, on both offense and defense. The D has shown flashes of being pretty good. The offense has been mostly awesome with a QB who hasn't worked with the first-team much. This can only get better.
  11. I guessed 9-3 last season, and I'm not normally foolishly optimistic about USF Football, but I'm getting the feeling that this is the team that can finally get us a Conference Championship. There are all kinds of flaws right now, but I get the feeling that this team will continue to improve, and get it done this year.
  12. 11-1 is based on the fact that we have a mostly soft schedule, and that the Coaching Staff can iron out the obvious wrinkles on Defense. I have some confidence that Strong can do that. I don't think we've seen the best of this team yet. This offense can be ridiculously good once Barnett in fully in sync with them.
  13. I can't help but look at the big picture. Like Boise losing 44-21 for example...
  14. The pessimistic view: We barely scraped by a team that will probably be sub-500, a team that was down several starters, and was a young team to begin with. The defense was gashed regularly in the first half again. We did everything we could to hand that game to them: A truckload of penalties, two interceptions, two missed FGs. We needed a blown coverage to pull this out. The Optimistic view: We beat a P5 team on the road in a game in which we were not at our best. Barnett showed a lot of character by overcoming a slow start, and eventually put up 400+ yards and pulled out another win. This can only continue to boost Barnett's confidence, and the chemistry will only get better between him and the offense each week. We seem better at running between the Tackles than I can ever remember. CronKrite looked really good. The defense came alive when it needed to, and looked pretty good in the second half. The way I see it: Bottom line, we are 3-0. GT and Illinois are not very good, but the manner in which we won those games makes them very good wins. The Offense hasn't fully gelled just yet, but they are still putting up big numbers. We are probably a little above average at this point, but I think we will get better on both sides of the ball as the season progresses. Even though the Defense still gets gashed too often, they have shown the ability to make in-game adjustments, and get stops when needed, and has potential to be a decent unit. We have what should be a somewhat soft four game stretch before Houston. I was thoroughly frustrated with this team in the first half, but I'll stick with my original prediction. We go at least 11-1, and maybe undefeated if we get by Houston.
  15. Or that we have to lead the league in penalties every year?
  16. I noticed that too. Could have something to do with his lack of time with the first team. Would be great if he can overcome the crap start. I was happy with Gilbert last week. Not so much this week...
  17. 1st & 20 and three runs? LMAO!!! Is Gilbert drunk?? Let Blake throw the ball. Also, did they get a hand on the FG attempt? 44 yarder landing in the endzone??
