  1. I don't care if Taggart was forced into the change or not, he got some great guys here, and got it turned around. That was the most entertaining offense we've had here, and in the end were better fir his being here. I think Charlie could be very successful here. I could see this team being pretty good next year...and we're still in the hunt this year, but he's done nothing great here so far. He can recruit, and I suspect future seasons will look a lot like this one. Enough talent to beat the bad teams...which there should continue to be plenty of those on our schedule...but won't be able to get over the hump against the better teams we play. Hope I'm wrong. Time will tell.
  2. Not since he's been here. Look through the schedule the last two years. He's beaten bad teams, and won a couple of toss-up games (GT & Texas Tech). You must be talking about Louisville vs. Florida? He was good at Louisville. The game may have evolved a bit in the years since. Not sure Charlie has.
  3. Taggart inherited garbage from Holtz. Strong inherited a good team from Taggart, and has had a ridiculously easy schedule for the most part, and has mostly lost when playing decent teams. There's not a whole lot about Strong, so far anyway, that screams, "Wow, this guy is an amazing coach!!" I believe that if Strong was in the same position as Taggart was when he took over for Holtz, Strong may have had a similar record over those first two years, and may never had recruited Mack or Flowers, or got Adams through the transfer. The two situations were far different. Winning percentages are a bit irrelevant when deciding who was the better coach at this point. Skip was clearly the worst. Who was better between Stong and Taggart isn't quite as clear.
  4. I wonder if we'll have any points at all? I would imagine a few maybe...
  5. That is the best offense we will see this year (including UCF), and us going into the UCF game with 1 loss, and a trip to the CCG on the line, is still doable. Our own coaching is more concerning than Tulane, Cincy, or Temple though. There were two instances in the red zone......3rd & goal from the 4, and about 3rd & 8 from near the 10 yard line I believe....we ran dive plays on both occasions. We appeared to be playing for the FG in a game where we were behind and couldn't stop their offense. Seriously, what exactly is the thought process here? There was obviously a gigantic difference in the creativity of the offenses today. That felt like a Skip Holtz move. Throw the **** ball into the endzone. The 4th & 7 play where we appeared to have King bottled up before he broke loose and scored obviously took the air out of the team. Every bit as deflating as the 4th & 24 last year IMO. We get a stop there, it probably is an entirely different game. I knew our defense was going to have problems, but that was ridiculous. I'm too lazy to do the research, but numbers-wise, this defense can't be much better than the Raymond Woodie led defense in 2016. A little disappointing considering our Head Coach supposedly specializes in defense. Charlie has now faced 4 FBS teams with winning records since he's been here (Temple 2017, Houston 2017, UCF 2017, and Houston 2018). He's 1-3 against that group. This appears to be in-part a coaching problem IMO. We've had one decent showing against GT. Every other game has been close wins against garbage teams. Constant problem with penalties. Not sure how anybody can be "sold" on him at this point. Will be interesting to see how he does against OK....not great...opposition in the next three games before Black Friday. No more UConns on our schedule...
  6. Houston should run a minimum of 10 QB keepers in this quarter. No way we're stopping it. In fact, we won't be stopping anything today...
  7. Every 3rd & long, I fully expect Houston to convert. It's very surprising when they don't
  8. If I'm Houston's OC, I'm running that QB Draw for the rest of the game
  9. Old game, but check out the block by McCants at 2:21:28
  10. You are likely correct here. I am hoping for the best, and Houston, even though they are a definite step up for us, is certainly not Alabama. I can't see us stopping them with any consistency, but our Offense should be able to put up points on them as well. Would love for us to show that we can beat somebody worth a **** finally...
  11. Exactly, but given that this is not UConn, Tulsa, or UMass we are up against, we will probably see a sense of urgency much earlier vs. Houston. This could end up looking something like our game vs. UCF last year, hopefully with us coming out on top this time.
  12. Did you see UMass? Me either. Defense is supposed to be Charlie's specialty. Was surprised at the inability of our defense to adjust to that QB draw of UConn's. We've shown the ability to make in-game adjustments this season, but we seemed to be clueless on how to stop Pindell. King is just as good a runner, and a far better passer. ZERO chance that the team we saw against UConn beats Houston. Hoping we can rise to the occasion. We will need to have our heads out of our behinds for 4 full quarters to win this one.
  13. Not sure which G5 team has the SOS to get into the playoffs this year, or in most years for that matter. I think Houston had the best chance in 2016 when they beat Oklahoma in week one, and had a #6 ranking early in the season, with a good Louisville team on the schedule (who Houston ended up beating 36-0). This was after going 13-1 in 2015, and beating FSU 38-24 in the bowl game that year.
  14. That would be quite some prediction if you end up being right about Clerveaux
  15. How are we supposed to predict this when we don't know which uniforms they're wearing yet?
  16. Still counts as a conference win/loss for them, even though it's East vs. West...
  17. I saw the USF Wizard on the Jumbo-tron...
