I guess what I don't get is neither is good in the other schools respective sport.   Uconn is far and a way a better hoops program than UCF and I would say would win 95% of those games.  It's like vice versa in fball.   UCF is much better than Uconn in fabll and should win most of those games I would think, so I just don't get the rivalry.   Is it for baseball maybe?

From what I've read (on UConns board):

This seams more of an idea/implementation of the FB head coach, rather than the athletic department.

 

He mentioned it during a press conference following their win last year.  And mentioned he would buy the trophy himself (hence why it looks a bit generic/cheap.)
 

 

But of course this could be their fans just trying to justify things.

They seemed pretty embarrassed/confused about it

I will steal Steve Spurriers saying from back when he was coaching UF. When asked about Tenn he said the goal for UF every year is to win the SEC East then the SEC. Everything will then fall into place. Well now USF needs to say the goal every season is to win the AAC East and then the AAC title. Everything will fall into place.
