If you're Lovie Smith, you're not going to see another contract if your QB pick doesn't pan out. So take a long look at Mariotta and a long look at Winston. Which one do you think has a better chance of getting you fired?

I think he's one of the best QBs I've seen in a long time.

You don't pick to avoid being fired.  You pick the one who's best able to help you win games.

 

Mariota isn't ready to play in an NFL offense anywhere else other than Philly.  Winston is far more advanced and ready to step on a field on game 1.  There are things the Bucs can do, contract-wise, to insulate themselves from issues that might arise off the field.

Only thing I've read is that some feel he came off as cocky.  I can see how that could be said, but I like the attitude and swagger.  The Bucs need a bit of that on the offensive side of the ball.
