I get Willies answer. He had to say that IMO.

This too. If he says "Yes, I want to build this program to be a UCF" our already pissed off fan base would lose it.

I think CWT let some emotion he's learned in the past year get the best of him. Last year and at WKU he shrugged off rivalry games saying every game is a rivalry game. Only a fool wouldn't want to be like a program at the top of the conference, with only 1 in conference loss in 2 seasons. It's like he's saying he'd rather be a bottom dweller which so far he's doing very well.

I take it differently. ucf's success has come against the bottom dwellers of our conference currently, and the bottom dweller's of what's left of conference USA now. The absolute garbage of college football. Is that what we are striving to be? We want to be the best player on the field because we are 21 years old playing against 16 year olds?

Taggart wants to build a program that can compete with anyone, beat anyone on any given night, and get out of this god forsaken conference.

Baylor wasn't a bottom dweller.

He could have said he wanted to build a dominant program. UCF has been that. USF gets dominated by fcs teams.

No they weren't, but outside of last year UCF's success is strictly against exactly what I said. A few years ago they won the CUSA championship, won like 10 games or something like that and didn't beat a single team with a winning record. That's not what I want to be sorry.

And then what? Be laughed out of the building by the media? You can't throw out a statement of "UCF is a dominant program".

UCF is a dominant program inside conference USA, or the AAC. Both of which are absolutely horrendous. I'm with you that things are bad and thus far I'm not on Taggart's good side, but he answered that question 100% correctly.

The AAC, pathetic or not, is the conference we are in for the time being. It would be nice to dominate this conference like UCF has. So UCF beat up on a bad conference. Right now we are one of the reasons this conference is terrible. It would be nice to be able to dominate even a bad conference. At this point in the program there isn't much more to aspire to than what UCF has already achieved.

Willies answer, while not the PC as some want it to be (I like it), could be correct. Don't model after UCF, model after Stanford or Alabama. Yeah we're not in big conference and don't get those recruits, but he wants a program with that success. UCF has some success, who knows if it will be sustained.

In ten years it could be flipped again and USF writers could be saying where's the smug and etc. cyclical.

Also, who reads the papers? Lol

At least UCF can beat bad teams. Taggart can't even do that, and has never shown he could.

At this point in time, GOL is a much better coach. Our teams have similar talent and if Taggart was any good would have been playing UCF for the conference championship.

2 straight years we crush UCF in turnovers and end up losing. That is a huge sign we are a very bad team. Any average offense would have beaten UCF the last two games the way the defense played.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

“In my mind, I’m kind of like, ‘OK, excuses over'. We know what we need to do. We’ve got the right team together, and now we move forward, and we’ll evaluate and be accountable to each other, including myself, from this point forward.”
