Because in some way doing so will hurt the team? Where is the harm? If it bothers you so much, do not participate in it but at the same time do not discourage others from taking part in it. The USF fan base needs something to get excited about and what better than a 4-1 basketball team that is basically a clean slate, with regard to the personnel and playing style, from the past years of disappointment. It's okay to just enjoy it, let down your guard. There's no reason to be so serious about it, it's only a game. Have some fun and allow others to do the same. Amen...I love how some people think someone overly pessimistic or optimistic has ANY influence on performance. But, as you noted, creating a buzz & getting fan support is good for the team, the program and possibly recruiting. In reality, most of us see the holes in our game. We aren't predicting an AAC championship. The general feeling seems to be that we know they are young, we lack the bigs in the middle (though I expect our 2 to improve this year) and that we're very young. What we DO see is early indication that Coach O is optimizing the talent he has, and the team seems to respond to him. From my view, this team is more fun to watch than last year's...and will almost certainly win more games than Heath's last team.

Their RPI is 126 and ours is 89. Maryland football is akin to Hofstra hoops? Hahahahahahahahaha! They suck and we beat them by 1 at home coming from behind. No comparison to football. I'm speaking of hoops. we were also 4 point favorites. Some people on this board are delusional. Coulda sworn we were 10-point dogs in that game I was talking about the Hofstra game not Maryland. So was I And we played Md in football and WBB, not MBB...

Thought it was +10 Not sure why anyone outside of us diehards would think we'd win. What do you think the Bama game opens at?

But we're not deep, and at some point this season you have to feel that's going to catch up with us. Our direction is refreshing, and IMO so far it looks like we've improved in just about every category except for maybe rebounding. But we lost Egbunu, so a little setback there was expected.
