Not being able to get the ball in from the one inch line is a bit on the push from the O-line but Uconn also sold out to stop the run. They had 9 in the box and the LBs were almost on the line. A play action pass would have been wide open.

Agreed, bad play call.  Notice one thing White never does is run for it.  That is always one of the options a QB should consider.  

 

you absolutely do not risk a turnover there. late in the game up by 7, 3 makes it a 2 score game. it would have been dumb to try the pass.

 

Then why the shotgun? or whatever the heck that third down play was supposed to be?

I haven't seen much over reaction to this win. Most are just noting improvements. I think in the past we have found a way to lose games like this. I don't think anybody is expecting to go to Wisconsin
