Smazzas one of the few b******** and moaners that haven't gone into hiding after Leavitt was deposed and the program tanked. Not saying it's good or bad, but a lot that thought underachieving in the 10th-12th years of existence because a BCS conference crown was not ours have moved to new areas of specialty. Good for the Bulls.

Not sure where exactly it was, must have been a board that was linked from a thread here, but saw one of those blasts from the past names that I think you're referring to ... initials mb.

"Well Leavitt had what? 5 years? Well maybe it's 6. Yeah, 6. You're on the clock Willie."

I'm sure there are plenty of programs that in their 6th year of 1A became powerhouses, and great, they could throw out as an examples, though ...

I am sure there was at least one at the turn of the century.  The 20th century.

to build a top 25 team you need a good qb-----we don't have it

it remains to be seen of flowers is the man but if we don't find a qb to play next year usf will not have success in 2015

a stout defense

adequate special teams

and a running game

I believe we have a running game now

I said for years we need to bring more juco players in here and have been shouted down

so many years I have heard how bad and young we are but yet we don't bring in upperclassmen

Cincy and UConn won conference championships and they're still in a crummy conference. Cincy may have won the title or a share of it more than any other team. Yet sad sack Syracuse goes on to ACC.

There's more to it than a conference title.

You're right. If winning got you into the P5 Cinci deserved it a long time ago.

TV, fan following all that stuff is more important than winning.

Good question ... especially when both had decent success elsewhere .... burial grounds tendrils stretching out from the Dome?

It is the curse of Jim Leavitt. He didnt put it on it was just Karma. Leavitt situation was handled wrong by USF and now Karma has get the best of USF.   Not sure how USF will break the curse. They may need to build that OCS and name it after Leavitt or at least put a Leavitt statue around the OCS. That may be the only way USF breaks the curse.

this is a joke right?

we don't have a complete running game now. we have a very good running back that can take it the distance. we have an offensive line that dominated a 1-aa team and got manhandled by the 2 BCS programs we played.

I doubt anyone shouted you down. leavitt went the JUCO route plenty and was quite successful doing it just as Snyder has been at kansas state. Jamie Byrd is a JUCO.

are we sure that the RB is as good as he looked vs a bad 1AA team as well?
