Sorry man, but I reject the changes and the tune, because of the offensiveness of the original.

IMO, it is UN-redeemable.

Charsibb, I respect your opinion, my friend. See you at watch parties this season!

Oh yeah!

True fact: the university of Miami's marching band used to play Dixie back in the day.

umm, no thanks.

I would prefer Bulls on Parade, the theme from the Rocky movies (Gonna Fly Now or whatever it is called) or The Bull - formerly known as #9 to long time fans.

I've always thought it would be pretty awesome to hear the HOT play an upbeat version of "The Old Folks at Home" or sometimes called "Suwannee River" (the state song of Florida) during our games. I don't think any other program in our state uses it and it would bring great state pride during games.

Just a thought but would love to hear what people think.

Not that I am a proponent of this point, but many have raised this as a racist song and would not be welcomed.  I like the spirit, but this would be on par with bringing in the tomahawk chop and an indian with a spear, oh nevermind...

I think HOT could do a much better job with it too.

Neither of which would be possible to "bring in" these days if they weren't already traditions.

Funny, never saw this song as racist--only saw it talking about longing to be in the state. But is sure seems a depressing song!

PS - Always hum the first couple of lines when I cross the river on the drive down...:-)
