2014 Spring Football Game

I have no problem with moving it on campus, but I do disagree with the venue selection. I'm aware that the Corbett Soccer Stadium is brand new and is a show case piece. But for attendance's sake (no clue how many people will come), they should have held it at the track stadium. Saying we're moving it on campus to the smallest available field is basically a bush league move-like saying "well, our spring games aren't even big enough to host at a decent sized facility like the track stadium". 

 

That was Leavitt's concern.

 

If you want to be a big time program, you have to act like one.

 

And, well, here we are.

He's been forcibly reformed - he's got one of those "wifey" things now, and isn't allowed out to play anymore....

Last summer right? Should be one of those "anniversary" thingies coming up shortly  (or was it two years ago now???)

I think the decision to move it to campus was probably more of a nod towards getting students re-involved. Free tailgate and the ever popular t-shirt giveaway. My close personal friend and spiritual adviser - Al Sharpton - was a master at venue manipulation. Wedge a handful of people into a small space and the photo comes out looking like an uber crowded SRO type of affair. I'm sure that by virtue of moving on campus, this year, it's going to shave off some of the attendees who would normally go to RayJ, but those who do attend the 'intimate venue' spring game will probably not fill it to overflowing. But the pictures will look great! 

 

On an unrelated note, I was talking to a couple of fellows who are bound for USF this fall (may play...don't know...grades might be an issue with one of them). Word around the high-school campfire is that CWT has done a great job, and is exceptionally enthusiastic, about recruiting locally. And, both of these guys agree that it's going to take a few years to ratchet up the success level, but he's really focused on recruiting local talent to succeed at U of SF. 

 

Anyway, as always, looking forward to it. Another chance to nose about the campus and see what's changed.

From what I see on twitter, it appears White and Bench are on the same team (White Team).  Was looking forward to them squaring off against each other.  Hope we get some clarity on this.  Looks like the White team has more offensive talent than the Green team.

So any word on how much it will cost to rent a tent, or tent space??

It's free, but based upon points I believe. Anyone is welcome to my tent

 

 

Where are you guys seeing this? I am hoping they do the tents around the berm again. I emailed a few people in the department tonight asking for it. The guy whose idea it was (Andy Morris), is no longer there. 

 

If anyone got an email about tents on the berm, or saw an ad, please let me know.
