First, the article is spot on. It's not a needless article. We have new leadership in the athletics department so with new leadership needs to come new focus. Let's acknowledge the past for what it was, and work to change it. Does it give a negative perception of USF? Maybe. I submit, however, that our sports teams really haven't provided too many positive things for reporters to write about. I actually think it's a good thing that sports writers be real. BDYZR, you are absolutely right, it should be "mediocrity will no longer be tolerated." Problem is, that would be an admission that it was tolerated before, so we're not going to get that. Hopefully Harlan is the man to lead us into a culture of winning and relevance, especially in basketball and football - the sports that matter. I wish we were as good as mediocre.

This is how the community (including loyal fans like us) keep USF officials accountable. Basically, Chip is saying, "a little less conversation, a little more action." He has a point and I'm glad he made it without the usual snark we get from others like Shelton, Fennelly, DUImig, etc.

She's done great for USF as a whole and has greater concerns than the athletic department. As USF sports fans, we sometimes forget that USF is an institute of higher learning and that is it's number one priority. I'd love to have a premier sports department, but not at the cost of the university's main goal.

I don't understand that from an accuracy or a grammatical standpoint. Stan did play big men who were freshmen...don't understand what he meant here. Thought that sentence weird, too ... It looks like maybe he's trying to talk about these last two seasons, one with no big man, one playing freshmen. Chip's gotta be getting up there in age and senility setting in.
