I can't believe we fired a coach that had over 20 wins in 2 of the previous 4 seasons.

I realize it's not a truly accurate comparison, but the Bucs fired Gruden the year after they won the division and made the playoffs.

He had lost the locker room.

Perhaps something similar happened here ...

The program was a trainwreck. For someone who wanted CJL canned...

It is unbelievable how much money Woolard has cost this University by giving extensions to both ex-CSHs.  He has cost us millions with his bad decisions.

Someone on another thread mentioned Woolard should give up his remaining salary and put it toward  the buyout of Stan Heath's contract.  Fantastic idea!

So glad there is a new Sheriff in town.

I liked CSH, but the job wasn't getting done and there's definitely been some coach-player issues. If Harlan did have any significant part in this decision, then I like the call even more as it shows some gall -- not to say that Heath's fate wasn't already decided.

Didn't want it to happen, but not unexpected. I don't think the writing on the wall could have been much more visible than Judy's words at Harlan's introductory press conference.

Next on the block will Prado. UCLA is the defending national champs. Harlan is coming from a winning program.

With all the money that has been invested in upgrading facilities and as Judy said the other day, the University is on the move in every other way, there will be little tolerance for mediocrity.

Harlan understands that his main job is fundraising and marketing. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that you can't sell a crappy product on the court/field of play.

The expectations to win will be much greater around here.

It's not to say that we're broke, but it certainly doesn't SEEM like we're in great financial shape. We were making what, 6-7M a year as full members of the Big East? Now that's dropped to $2M. Donations are undoubtedly down, though nobody knows how much. Student fees are probably about the same at around $15M a year. Ticket sales, let's just pretend for a minute and say they're maybe $5M a year optimistically. Meanwhile, we're paying two coaches 875k annually and that's basically a sunk cost. Athletics is likely being subsidized by academics, but budget cuts have surely taken their toll.

Don't want Pearl.  Howland would be great.
