If Musa finally gets the handle on his distance shots, I like our chances to win a few more.

I hope AC redshirts don't think he'll be ready soon enough to matter for this team... We're a NIT team at best so let him sit and get some more rest and work on his outside game..

Josh Heath had five assists in 19 minutes off the bench tonight. Here are the top six in the conference in assists per game, with their minutes per game in parentheses:

Shabazz Napier, UConn: 5.7 (34.8)

Russ Smith, Louisville: 4.9 (27.3)

Nic Moore, SMU: 4.6 (32.3)

Myles Mack, Rutgers: 4.4 (31.9)

Jerome Seagears, Rutgers: 4.2 (25.4)

Will Cummings, Temple: 4.2 (34.3)

Also worth noting: Anthony Collins has averaged 5.9 assists and 31.4 minutes per game, but doesn't qualify for the leader board because he has only played eight games.

Josh looked like a true point guard. Let us see what he looks like next game.

No way Collins gets a redshirt, and how desperate has the board become that we think a guy with 2 points and 5 assists is somehow going to turn the season around. This is probably the crowd that thought Mike White was going to be better then Grothe, Daniels and Blackwell.

Yes way. If his knee is not healed how do you put him in? If we get pass the half way point and he is not ready it would be stupid to put him in.

Just great ... Now you're going to get the board accused of thinking that Josh will now lead us to the Sweet 16 ...

It's unfortunate that to some people, the only two possibilities are everything is amazing and USF is going to compete for a conference title, or everything is a disaster and USF might as well discontinue its athletic department. Not accusing you of that, of course, Trip.

Heath's performance was a positive in a season that so far has been depressingly void of them. Some people just have to rain on the parade. Not saying he's going to lead the conference in assists - of course not, this was against a pretty bad team. But since when is that the only standard by which a performance can be called promising? He had a good game tonight, there's nothing wrong with just stating that, and leaving it at that for now.

Just got done watching the recorded game and read the last few pages of this thread.  My observations on Heath. Plays under control and made a couple of nice entry passes.  What I didn't see was explosive speed to beat his man one on one.  Not that he tried so hard to know.  His defense looked like an afterthought.  Was looking to help out a lot so hard to tell what his one on one D will be like. So there is some room for optimism but guarded at this time.  Did they say or did they show a graphic that he was 6'2"?  I guess if they have AC at 6'1"..........

Nice to see Musa hit those 2 in a row but would have been great to see him hit the rim with his next attempt.  Haven't looked at stats but appeared that FT shooting was better in the 2nd half.  Nice to get a win.

Hit the rim? That was a beautiful assist, man!

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
