If Winston raped the girl arrest him, take him to trial, and put him in prison.  If there is not sufficient evidence that he raped the girl...leave him alone.

Tally PD is now saying that the accuser's attorney told them in February they did not want to go forward with the investigation/prosecution.

That makes more sense on the part of the TPD sitting on the case, though it is still interesting that they did not even interview the potential witness.

After Tally PD was the party telling the girl there would be consequences if she wet forward!

Now there is a DNA link coming out that wasn't known in the OP.

This accusation was in January way before Winston was even a star. What were the investigators doing the past 11 months?

Police never alerted the state attorney but someone did give Winston's lawyers a heads up. ?

It really does sound like some one or multiple people in the "investigation" just want to let Winston off. They told Wiston's party the case was closed while still awaiting DNA and now DNA comes back as a match!

""The victim cannot fathom that the State Attorney's Office was not given the same opportunity," the letter said. "The family was shocked to hear that Winston's attorney was not only aware of the case but had been told by the Tallahassee Police Department that the case had been closed in February. All the while, the family was awaiting blood work results until early April."

Gismo, you need to learn the use of the word "allegedly."   Don't worry, at this point, Winston isn't a threat anymore to Johnny Manziel's Heisman birthright.

I guess it's an impossibility that the "victim" chose not to go forward with the charges back in January, but has since changed her mind since Winston has become a household name, right?  Yeah, you're right, that could never happen.

We have no idea the context of what the Tallahassee detective said.  It could have been implied as:

- You really don't want to push this forward, you'll get villified and no help from us or anyone else.
- We will push this as hard as you want, you have a good case, just remember that you unfortunately will be subject to a lot of crap because this is a football town.

Or, it could be that the detective just wanted to test the accusor as an added data point.

Keep in mind you will be put under a microscope.  Are you ok with that or will you start backpedling in a hurry?

All sorts of valid reasons for the detective to say that, and none of us know the context.

It wasn't known to the general public.  I'm sure the involved parties were all well aware that she had DNA evidence and that there was a 99% chance it pointed to Winston.  Consensual sex isn't a crime, so this is mostly irrelevant.

According to the Tally PD, the accuser did not want to go forward with prosecution.  Almost impossible to gain a conviction without her cooperation.

That is what.
