All quarterbacks (except Eveld, Floyd and Bench) have good games and bad games. With White we have a small sample size of two games that look very different from each other. White at least has shown the has the capability to perform (e.g. Houston), while all of our other quarterbacks have crapped the bed when given the opportunity.

 

CWT didn't help him out with preparation (16 days) and play calling. So far this season, White has the best game from a quarterback of any of the 4. Having said that, we can pump the breaks on "White is going to be the best quarterback in USF history".

I completely agree that this statement was very premature and flat out silly

 

that said- I think White has potential despite this game. He was fairly solid up until we started going into desperation mode at the end. Too many mistakes and bad luck in this game that forced that issue. He had a similar result trying to pull it out against Houston. Some guys-- like Grothe for example- could will a team to win on his own sometimes. Then again-- he also had a full year of pratice/growing before taking the reigns. In a perfect world-- we would have had that luxury. We don't- he needs to play now-- this team needs to get ready for next season with the rest of this year.

 

My main thought is that like Taggart-- we need to give White more than a handful of chances before passing judgement. Taggart needs a lot of time to get this program rebuilt. White needs time to grow (literally and mentally) into a solid and dependable starting college QB.

The team looked like it did in the first 4 games.

Tons of turnovers. Giving the opponents defense points. Putting the other team in scoring range more than our own team.

Something is getting lost in translation or not translated at all from the coaches to the players.

Team looks like they haven't had much practice together. Ball being thrown behind receivers, sometimes to areas of the feild where no one is nearby except a defender ready to intercept the pass..... Missed blocks.... False starts.... Just sloppy.
