I don't get why everyone is so down on the O-line ?  I mean is Shaw running like he is because there is no blocking ?  Or are you saying they have no clue how to pass block ?

Run and pass blocking are a bit different. Seems to me that run blocking is more driving off the ball to make/push a block, whereas pass blocking is more holding your ground and generally is more of a backward motion towards the backfield.

 

I wonder if our guys are giving tells for run/pass by being too much on their balls of their feet or their heels, or if they're just big and strong enough to get a little push for a shifty back like Shaw to get through, but not strong enough to hold off a large DT/DE for very long.

My very slightly educated guess is that the team spent lots and lots of time working with the offense on installing the power running game.  That hindering development of the passing game, which was futher set back by an ongoing QB battle that did not allow the 1st team offense to really get into a rhythm throwing the fooball.

We need to stick to just ONE QB for our offense to click. Out of the QB options we have i think Bench is the best and should be given the opportunity to ride out the burning bus. Hopefully we get a few wins out of it.

ok - I just don't like it when a blanket statement is made about the O-line and it isn't right.  Hopefully this week more time is spent on pass blocking.

I don't know about that. I've seen our LT Darrell Williams beat like a yard dog on multiple occasions.
