It's nothing against MLK, who was a great man. I've always found it strange that the focal point landmark of our campus is about a man who never set foot on the campus or had anything to do with the university. It seems almost like a token gesture, like how nearly every city and town in the south has named a street after the man. +1 racists.... Quicker than expected. What "annoys" me is that in the early 70's USF had a chance to construct a 100ft version of Picasso's "Bust of a Woman" next to the FAH building. The project had Picasso's personal blessing (and he asked for no money in return) and it was to be the largest Picasso piece in the world. However the plan was shelved when many considered it would become "an eyesore." Edited July 19, 2013 by dogma

And for some reason they aren't found in the better zipcodes. But surely, if Dr. King visited USF - there would have to be some sort of plaque or something commemorating that visit. I think Chris Rock had a joke about MLK boulevard in Bigger and Blacker on hoe they are always in the ghettoest parts of cities

Collect your money, my friend. Also, I was wondering if anyone put a hoodie on the bust? I know that there was a lot of controversy over some ill-advised politically charged artwork post-Zimmerman trial.

For those of us who are seasoned veterans of the Drive-Thru-U years, if you never had business on that side of campus, we wouldn't know it existed. I spent two years in either the Business Bunker, the Communications/IT building with only two forays into the Social Science building. That and the bookstore was it for me.
