I have seen that statement before, but maybe, I don't understand how everyone feels about it. In Athletics, do we prefer to be called USF or South Florida. Many publications use 'South Florida' (along with USF gear in the bookstore); or is USF a better moniker?

Somebody in USF Public Relations needs to make it their mission to make this page rock

This.

Our page has always lacked uniformity and accuracy.

Another issue is the use of "South Florida" on the athletics pages. UCF is always referred to as UCF, not Central Florida, why are we not always referred to as USF. Our athletic department has asked (although never demanded) that "South Florida" never be used.

This might have to do with other schools having the same 'USF' acronym as us. If you go to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USF

USF can mean multiple things including other universities.

However, if you go to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UCF

it takes you straight to University of Central Florida

LOL. Never went there before, but you gotta wonder how they got it before those other two powerhouses.

UT, I think that's awesome that they've held out with the site. You'd have to think those other schools offered to buy 'em out.

One day, I'd hope we'll be able to shed the confusion with San Fran and just take over the USF brand.

Don't forget about University of Sioux Falls http://www.usfcougars.com.  Not sure, but it seems like the Assistant Strength Coach even confused USF Cougars with South Florida.

USF Cougars â€@USF_Athletics 2h

Fun fact: the USF football team has tallied 19 consecutive winning seasons- longer than most of the '13 freshman class has been alive.

Haha! Oh boy! We should come up with a moniker, such as SoFlo... or something. There is a Bulls Blog based on the domain SoFloBulls.com (which I am sure that you all are aware of). But it would be nice to have a shortened named that is unique; similar to Ole Miss or Uconn (which actually became official), Bama, 'Noles, etc... Anything...

I actually ran into some guys at the dog park that went to San Fran. I was obviously wearing a USF tee shirt as usual outside of work and a guy asked if I went to USF. I said yes and he screamed "go Dons!" While I looked at him stupidly(as the iconic U was prominent on the shirt. Turns out they're not to happy that they have to go to usfca.edu considering they've been around over a hundred years and we've only been around since 1956...

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
