Greg's article talking about a new bowl game in Miami also mentions that if our champ doesn't go to a top 6 bowl game, then they will likely head to Memphis - home of the Liberty Bowl. While I like the idea of playing a bowl game in Memphis, the current tie-in has the C-USA champ against #8 in the SEC (if one is available). Last year the C-USA champ. (Tulsa) had to play lowly Iowa State (#9 team in Big 12) and demolished them to little fanfare. Do you think we would get a better tie in if this were the case...say against the SEC #4 or 5?

We are in CUSA 2.0 so the Liberty Bowl for the champion just goes ahead and seals the deal on it.

I don't see that happening

Our champ will be in the playoff, or another major bowl. The champ of the AAC will more than likely be the highest ranked in the G5.

"The other opportunity if we don’t make the four-team playoff, is to potentially end up on New Year’s Day or New Year’s Eve in one of those important system bowls. One of those and three we could potentially be in are the Fiesta, the Cotton or the Chick-Fil-A and there our conference champion would need to be the highest ranked of the group of five conferences which includes Mountain West, Conference USA, Sun Belt and Mid-American."

Not when Boise state wins 10 or more games a year. We'll get a bcs bowl 50% of the time if we're lucky.

Unless we do the same. We play a way stronger schedule than Boise does.

Liberty looks like the best option that we are being given right now. It is not one of the Big Boy Bowls but it does have the history. It also draws a decent crowd http://www.libertybowl.org/history/resultsattendance  (more than any bowl game we have played in to date. Not my first choice but with our current conference status of being in CONF USA-2.0  than this is what we have to look forward to.

ESPN owns all but 2-3 of the bowl games , ESPN owns COLLEGE FOOTBALL and has showed that they want to invest in the Power 5 And throw scraps to the other conferences.

How many fans do you think a 9-3 or 10-2 USF would bring to a Bowl game against a 6-6 Iowa State in Memphis realistically? Maybe seven thousand?

If USF put 7k in the seats for the liberty bowl we'd be doing awesome. FSU couldn't sell 17K to the Orange Bowl which of course is a BCS bowl in Miami and just a 7hr drive. Hardly any teams sell their entire allottment of bowl tickets. Check out the linked article and look at the discount that FSU was giving.

Ill be there like the others who support the program.  7,000 for any bowl game would be a nice Number for US. Not hating on our fans but we don't travel well typically.

Also if you look at the attendance figures above you see they draw over 50,000 a game. (more than Beef bowl in St Pete can hold, more than the BBVA bowl in Bham had when we played ECU, More than the International Bowl when we beat NIU, More than we had at the Belk Bowl vs Clemson.

Could be the Big 12 SEC fans, but I suspect its the local fans as well.(mostly)

Even UCIF in their 2 games there drew over 50,000 people.  Last year as mentioned Iowa St vs  Tulsa drew 53,000.

We should be able to do the same, id be happy if we played in a bowl and 50,000 plus showed up in person to see it.

I heard the discussion was a #4 Big XII as the opponent.
