This is kinda fringe territory. Baseball is less likely to produce a career ending injury but family issues prolly determine this. If they don't need the money right away. I say wait. With the bonus pool limits, the big money runs out quicker. Gomez signed for $187,000 vs $2-8MM for 1st rounders. Anthony Gomez, Vanderbilt, SS, Marlins 6th Round Selection: Gomez is a player that could return to college for his senior season. He plays terrific defense at shortstop, but his bat is probably not ready to handle talented minor league pitching. Gomez is a "gamer" and he should be a valuable contributor on almost any team he plays on. He also has above-average speed, which has led to two All-SEC awards. If I were Gomez, I would stay for my senior season at Vanderbilt. However, if he wants guaranteed money and the chance to play with the top baseball players in the world, he should sign with the Marlins. http://www.fishstripes.com/2012/6/6/3067242/marlins-mlb-draft-selections-rounds-4-10-analysis

Far and away the closest player USF had to pro ready. His parents were at every game, sat in the same seats and were always friendly. Wish him the best. Redefining what counts as a high draft pick? Or are we saying his commitment to USF football scared teams away from drafting him?
