Guess I was wrong. His goal might not be a HC job. He might want to end up an SEC DC. Less stress but still good pay and prestige. Hell, he might be after Kirby Smart's job since rumor has it Saban will be leaving in a few years leaving Smart as his successor. It'd be a logical progression for him in the next 2-3 years whether he took the USF job or the Arky job. He made a smart move. He probably bid his value up pitting the two schools against one another and now he likely got a huge raise to do the same thing. He'll get paid more and face less scrutiny than at the USF job and end up a SEC DC with less work. In short, we needed him more than he needed us. Why does anyone think he was offered the USF job? Good point although Auman and others have suggested that Shannon was interested and it's hard to believe we wouldn't at least try to bring him in assuming that interest was genuine. Good to know, that "I read somewhere" is adequate sourcing. It will be so much easier than providing those pesky links.
