Do any of you know if we're going to have an OC? If not, that could be money spent on hiring some really good coaches for other positions.

Not sure any reason why we wouldn't hire an OC.

General thought is that CWT will be handling the play calling for the offense... He might have someone on the staff with the title of OC but it will be in title only.

The last person we hired in a coaching capicty because of "Name" turned out to be a horrible thing for us. (Skip Holtz).

If Weinke can coach and has the creditentals and experience than Im all for it, But we need to hire someone who is proven, Not just because he played College FB, won a Heisman as a senior Citizen and helped Scam Newton get ready for the NFL. (Btw how is Scam doing this year in the NFL)?

What experinence does Weinke have other than the things listed above?

He is director of football operations at IMG. He runs QB camps for some of the top talent in the country. Think he would be a good fit.

I would assume this has given him quite a bit of face time with the HS coaches of these young men as well. No guarantees that means better recruiting, of course.

QB coach doesn't need to recruit IMO. HC/OC almost always recruits QB's anyways.

Bulls247 â€@Bulls247

We've been all over the Randy Shannon/USF news. It could be coming to an end soon. Expect to hear one way or another by Friday.

1) Cam Newton is doing a pretty good job this year, he's probably one of the top 10 best QBs on Earth. So that's cool.

2) What has Weinke done other than win a national championship, win the Heisman, play in the NFL, coach a couple top draft picks, and have the approval of a Super Bowl winning coach? What the **** else would you want from a position coach at USF?

Cam Newton is the 13th ranked QB this year.(His 2nd NFL season).

http://espn.go.com/n...12/seasontype/2

My point is that if Weinke's only fame to claim in regards to coaching is getting Cam Newton ready for the NFL than there would be better candidates out there, Yes? Cam was going to be drafted with or without Chris Weinkes help.

Not knocking Chris for his NC and Heisman campaign while at FSU( GREAT accomplishments) but he didnt win the NC alone.

As for the IMG business, its just that, a business to make money training athletes of all types not just FB players.

Trip we know you love Skippy Poo and if you were in charge of hiring at USF, Skip would had gotten a raise again this year. :)

Just want us to hire the BEST PEOPLE AVAIL, not based on name recognition, or because they have FSU ties ect....

Im sure Coach T will do what is best and re-build the mess that Skip left.
