I would be happy with a SUCCESSFUL coach from a lower level. even down to division 2.

We thought we had this with Holtz ...

not every hire will pan out. nothing wrong with cutting your losses. if you look closely though skip's best record was 9-5 at ECU. that really isn't over the top successful.

he was essentially fired(demoted on his dad's staff-would have been fired on anybody elses)from the job previous to ecu.

He was the HC at UConn for 5 years (34-23) prior to his stint at ECU.

he left uconn to be the OC at south carolina. he was demoted to QB coach in 2004 after 5 years as OC.

USF Administration needs to decide.

Does USF compete for BE Championships, National Titles or NOT?

If yes..... Go after Petrino (Ray-Jay will be filled)

If no.... Taggert or Christobal (rebuilding)

If cash strapped.... Holtz for a couple of more years (death by 1000 cuts)

Wanna see what kind of recruiting pull Willie Taggart has in SW Florida?

Look at this kid's offer list...http://rivals.yahoo.com/wku/football/recruiting/player-Joe-Fennell-120165

He has offers from everyone in the southeast, and all 4 BCS state schools (USF, UF, Miami, FSU) and he committed to Western Kentucky in August.

Imagine what Willie T could recruit like in his own backyard. :o:GoBulls:

By the way, I just noticed that I spelled his last name wrong in the title of the thread. It should be spelled Taggart. I can't see an option to edit the post or title. Can a mod correct that for me?

"The academic program they have there suits him," Redhead said prior to the Wolfpack's preseason game against Gulf Coast on Friday. "He's got a distant cousin who is a fifth year senior there. He likes (the coaches). It's the best thing for him. He's happy about it. This is a good avenue for him. He likes the smaller settings."

This was from 5 days before he commited to WKU ...

DL Joe Fennell of Ft. Myers, FL recently revealed a top three of USC, Florida and Nebraska. "He likes it," Fennell's coach Grant Redhead said of USC. "Florida is up there, too." But Redhead adds that Fennell has some academic work to do before he can really move forward with recruiting. "He's waiting to see how he does," he said. "We're trying to get him as close to qualifying as we can." Western Kentucky is another school Fennell has serious interest in. Last season Fennell had 33 tackles with 7 sacks.

you didn't highlight the fact he likes the coaches in the first section.

still pretty impressive to be in among the big boys even if he has a hard time qualifying.

not saying he can't recruit, but how many of those offers are commitable?

didn't richard benjamin have like 30 offers that weren't commitable at one point?

The point was he's going there, not because he chose it over the higher profile programs, but it was probably there or a Hutchinson CC ... maybe we should go after HCC's coach when the time comes.

Petrino's teams do not play defense. No defense = no championships. At least we would go back to winning at least 7 games in the regular season.....

Just basing it off common sense. I'd imagine Petrino and Strong will be the first two guys every school calls. Followed by Taggart and Bama's Kirby Smart.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
