Lets schedule a game 5 1/2 hours away against a team using a system that uses a unique offense. Them fly back and play our BE opener against in four days. The dude simply sucks!

You seem to be of the ignorant, uninformed opinion that the Big East schedule is in any way whatsoever a decision being made by Doug Woolard. This game was scheduled years ago, and the Big East schedule is handed down to the ADs. They have no control over it.

Which game was scheduled year ago?

Nothing, I had written something different and failed to edit the post correctly. It doesn't matter when the Nevada game was scheduled.

You probably had such a hard on to call someone ignorant that you forgot to check your post first.

No, I had written, "out of conference games each year were typically scheduled years ago," or something like that, then changed it when I remembered this game was scheduled more recently, but didn't delete the whole thing by mistake. I already said that in the post you quoted, but reading is hard, I know.

Regardless, it doesn't matter when the Nevada game was scheduled. It was scheduled before the Big East schedule was released.

Pitt and Syracuse still here. They had to account for loss of TCU.

You're a moron, this game was scheduled 6 mths. ago.

This was supposed to be the TCU game... Not a whole lot of options at that point.

Hiring Skip Holtz wasn't a failure, he as a pretty hot commodity and he may still work out. But missing a bowl for the first time in forever and then giving him an extension for that? This team looks so unprepared and poorly coached...

The hire was fine, the extension was mind boggling really...

+1

Can't blame our guys for having a game in Nevada and then a Thu game against Rutgers. That's ESPN

i dont love woolard

i met mrs holtz and spend a great deal of time talking to her and she is great

it would feel proper to criticize her husband

our talent level is much higher than nevada's but our players came out flat

no senior leadership

it was a great finish

at the end it is a win

this was supposed to be a game against TCU and the Rutgers game was originally set as a Saturday game and ESPN bumped it.

you really think our AD said- "hey lets fly to Nevada and then play our Big East opener 5 days later"

some of you clowns just look for anything to complain about.

If we played st mary's school for girls instead of Nevada and then got our pants knocked off by Rutgers you all would be complaining that we don't schedule tougher tune up games before conference play starts.

As mentioned by others, this was supposed to be TCU.

Your 4 options would have been:

1. Nevada

2. Oklahoma

3. Texas A&M

4. No 12th game (not sure that's an option)

Woolard put it together basically last minute. Looks like it was the best option available to me.

Its apparent that Skip and Co. failed to prepare for this game... any other school would have sent its team out to Nevada a few days early to get in some pre-game scrimmages, so they could acclimate themselves to the altitude and atmosphere.

Preparing in Tampa for a game in a mountainous area is a total failure to prepare.

If we can't beat Nevada then we have ZERO chance at winning the BEast.

1) Could we afford to do that?

2) I believe there are NCAA rules about traveling which would prevent us from going early.

The Gators left 3 days early to prep for A&M...
