this is ridiculous...

i'm pretty sure if this went down there would be ENORMOUS lawsuits against ESPN, B12, ACC others

I think it would become a government issue if ESPN killed off a MAJOR conference. NCAA is tax exempt and i don't think they should be. At this point it is a full blown business.

sheriff is right non big 5 conferences will be the minor leagues i would be surprised if usf could afford to pay head coach millions under that scenario

I really think this is BS. But it's funny to see how clueless WVU fan is. Why would you want USF? Why wouldn't you want one of the biggest TV markets in the US?

Then again, I need to remember that was a WVU board. ;)

Market, yes. Eyeballs and actual viewers ... no. (don't get me wrong, I'd love to be called up to the big leagues, but I just don't see it right here, unless there really is an ESPN conspiracy afoot.)

Having a presence in Florida is huge. The size of its natural population base (within the footprint) is the Big 12 conference's biggest weakness, and it will need to compensate for the SEC getting the second most popular team in its core state (Texas).

I don't think USF will actually be admitted into another major conference, either. But, that notwithstanding, the Big 12 really should add somebody from Florida.

FSU >>>>> USF nationally on a night Game against OU on ABC - (Tier 1) this is what it is about

Tampa>>>> Tallahassee on a Sat afternoon when USF plays Kansas (Tier3 or 2 depending on records)

The expansion is about the first and not the second, but if ESPN is willing to pay Big12 $$ for USF (that is perceived equal to what FSU is valued at) to cut out NBC is what this talk is about.
