So we are not worthy unless we beat top 5 Cuse and/or top 25 Ville!? Its still early, but IF we beat WV, sPitt and Cinci. We are on the bubble. Win 1 in the BET and we are in.

We are not worthy unless we win @Cuse or Ville.

I agree with this ..... with the only disclaimer being if Cincy goes 12-6 and we beat them, that could put us firmly on the bubble if our only losses are to Cuse and Ville .... and if that's how it plays out, Cincy could still be picked over us because of better wins.

We'd have two top 50 RPI wins if that played out. History says that is not near enough.

If we lose 13 (which is what would happen if we lost to Cuse and UL), we'd need something to convince the tourney to let us in. There isn't much at this point.

1. Just dam excited they are even mentioning our name about the dance this late in the season

2. BS I call it ! They do take into account if a player is hurt or out especailly when the team loses games when that player is out but wins when they return. I mean you have to if you want the best 37 teams. See Radenko Dobras from years ago(1990 maybe) - he was hurt and we lost but he came back and we won - made the dance.

3. Almost sounds like they are building reasons to take a team that finishes below USF in the BE standings before USF.

4. BE down ? Or is just that the Bulls have a better team and are beating teams they didn't in the past and now those teams don't have that easy win on their record ?

5. I am a Bulls fan - I am not required to be realistic or reasonable so I choose being positive with hope and enjoy the ride.

Look at the records of Big East Teams we have beat. Right now we belong it the NIT. Need a win vs Cuse or the Ville and no more than 2 more losses.

I get the feeling that he's giving the "party" line when answering these questions. I don't buy that the conference record doesn't matter or how a team finishes isn't factored into their selection, but its not the correct thing to say.

Conference record doesn't matter. Overall record gets you into the bubble discussion and then it's all about quality wins, close games, and bad loses. Being in the Big East and having a good conference record 9 times out of 10 means you've got a few quality wins. Well, USF has had the easiest conference schedule the Big East has ever seen. We have beaten 1 team that might also make the tournament. That's not a solid resume.

We can still play ourselves in, but we need a big win down the stretch. Not to mention we have to win the games we're supposed to.

Conference record will matter when you're playing in a power conference. There have been plenty of team who have won more than 20 games in a season and didn't sniff the tournament because they played in a weaker league.

It's not our fault that some teams in the Big East who we have beaten have been disappointments this season. Bottom line is that we are a good team and good teams beat the lesser teams, which we have done.

Win 3 of the last 5 and you'll more quality wins than the 1 we have right now.

What's the one quality win we have now?

I still think we're going to need to finish with at least 11 wins and a win over Cuse or L'ville to get in .... bar a deep run in the tourney.

Seton Hall is a quality win.

If we close 3-2, then we're going to be in. If 2 of those wins are over WVU and Cincinnati it helps us tremendously.

3-2 gets you a high seed in the NIT... barring a run in the conference tourney. Unless two of those wins are SU and UL.

Flip, do some research on 13 loss teams that have made the tourney. They all have the same things.

(1) big out of conference wins

(2) multiple top 25 wins.

We don't have either. Need to beat either Cuse or UL to have a shot.
