Well folks, it has been a long time. The thing that amazes me is the fact we have mucho losses due to poor play calling and a porous defense. Last night, the D steps up, has adjusted and righted their "ship." Fitch and the O seem stuck on 34 leads, 10 yard hitches, and a run, run, pass, punt offense. I mean, cmon USF, where are the things promised? Where are the improvements, the fire. So far this season, I have yet to see it. Generic, vanilla, or simpleton plays...you bet. Sorry folks, time to hit Skip with the hard questions.

As close as the game was, had the coaching staff made all of these play calling decisions a win was not guaranteed.

Had we gone for it on 4th and short and used up some time outs and still lost how would we be reacting on the board?

I would not have gon for it either. But we only threw one ball down field. You can't win football games like that.

And that pass was a desperation heave at the end of the first half. This is where the play calling was bad around midfield: We should have thrown the ball deep in at least some of those 3rd and medium/long situations, especially when you dump the ball off 3 yards short of the marker anyway:

  • Allow your receivers a chance to make a play (a la Andre Davis in Syracuse)
  • At least include the chance you may get a defensive penalty
  • With the way your punter is kicking, a long interception would have been a better better outcome in net yards

No one has said how on the money that "desperation" pass was ... would have detracted from some arguments against B.J. if Davis could have held onto it.

everyone is too blame

but fellas it comes down to lack of talent and lack of a good qb

bj is in over his head

if holtz doesnt bring in a blue chip qb he will be fired after next year
