From what I read, players who leave early for the pros aren't counted against, but with one of the numbering systems, they can affect some of the scoring if they leave and their grades aren't in great shape. AKA, if they're doing fine, they're a non-factor, but if they're not doing so hot in academics, it can hurt us. Not sure if that's entirely accurate or not though.

The only thing I can think of is that the number was actually worse in years past, and the number is still low, but at least clmbing. Regardless, I hope they are already working on this.

I don't think that they should "pad" the stats I think that we should reevaluate our program. We should only have serious students on the team. That's what intercollegiate athletics was supposed to be about in the first place. What's the worst that could happen? We could go winless in the Big East . . . .

graduation stats are meaningless when not given context.

what degree are these players earning?

The year after UF won a NC 60% of their football graduates earned a degree in parks, recreation and tourism. they are near the top of the SEC in graduation rates.

it is common for football factories to push their athletes towards worthless jock degrees just to keep them eligible.

I'm not saying we are any different but please don't take these numbers at face value. I believe our default jock degree is criminology.

WVU is not graduating 70% of their football athletes with chemical engineering degrees.

The school has taken steps to address this and under Holtz I'd expect an increase.

I think that number is similar to the graduation rate of the general student population.

I guess the Liberal Arts degree was too glaring of a jock degree, eh?

I always consider Mass Communications degrees to be jock degrees, to be honest. No slight to those who have it though...

Our APR is 30th out of the 66 BCS programs so this number is definitely dated....
