AKA, if they're doing fine, they're a non-factor, but if they're not doing so hot in academics, it can hurt us. Not sure if that's entirely accurate or not though. The only thing I can think of is that the number was actually worse in years past, and the number is still low, but at least clmbing. Regardless, I hope they are already working on this. We should only have serious students on the team. That's what intercollegiate athletics was supposed to be about in the first place. What's the worst that could happen? We could go winless in the Big East . . . .

The year after UF won a NC 60% of their football graduates earned a degree in parks, recreation and tourism. they are near the top of the SEC in graduation rates. it is common for football factories to push their athletes towards worthless jock degrees just to keep them eligible. I'm not saying we are any different but please don't take these numbers at face value. I believe our default jock degree is criminology. WVU is not graduating 70% of their football athletes with chemical engineering degrees.

I always consider Mass Communications degrees to be jock degrees, to be honest. No slight to those who have it though...
