This is good to read.  I wasn't able to watch all of the game and when I read about the the 2 personal fouls it seemed odd considering how clean they've played this year.  A horsecollar, which, like a facemask, sometimes just happens, and a "fixing my chinstrap" penalty I can deal with.

And not showing replays at any sporting event is complete bunk.

I think if you attempt to tackle him from behind via his shoulder pads, it can be a penalty even if the player fights through it and stays on his feet. Like the face mask, defensive players just need to assume that reaching there is off limits in all circumstances.

(I don't mean to imply USF players don't, I think this was just a fluke thing. Like BleedGreenAndGold said, certain penalties are just bound to happen once in a while.)

Use the collar to tackle the player.  That unfortunately is what Hampton did.

I have no idea what the 15 yard personal foul penalty was.  That was bunk.

it was kind of funny that one of the espn guys said basically the same thing....also, nothing I saw on tv when it happened gave you any indication as to what caused the flag. I just had a feeling that weird flags were going to start flying like in 07' when they threw a flag while they were announcing a penaly  :-\

Funny how on a similar type play against FSU last year it wasn't called when B.J. was being taken down on the first INT he threw.

Right call, just a stupid rule that should not be a penalty.

It's not a dumb rule. You can easily blow a out a players knee with that type of tackle.

ditto. same section saw the same thing + saw it on replay.

SPeaking of replays...does anyone know why they dont show replays on most plays? Who's decision is that? Are we the only place that doesnt show replays?
