Win the Big East would do more for us then UF game in the long run.

To get where we want to be, we're going to need to do both .... THIS year it's more important to beat UF than win the BE ... So let it be written. So let it be done.

and if it doesn't happen what then....beating UF would be great but not necessary right now.  Win the BE this year would be great, but hardly likely at this point.  My hope is we fight with them for 3 quarters, keep it a game, and make them remember they played USF and not think of us as another early season fodder game.  They're still returning so much from a 13-1 squad and if Brantley lives up to billing I fully expect them to make another run at the SEC crown this year.

This program is building for big runs in 2011 and 2012.  I am more excited thinking about 2011 going to ND with Scott, and Aycock as weapons for BJ, BJ's full knowledge of the offense, and having Griffin, Love, and Landi as his primary targets with a sprinkling in of a Lamar who finally works the kinks out of his learning curb at receiver.  That would be a great springboard to a big 2011 run at the BE title.  That's what we're building for.

I agree, especially since we don't get another crack at them til '15.  So THIS year it may be more important to beat UF...we will have many years to win the BE, but this is our ONLY shot at UF.

I'd prefer to spank the Gayturds this year since the BE champ is not likely. Nothing would please me more than to shut up those smug sons of bitches from that village up north.

And if we did pull off the "Silencing of the Swamp", then perhaps we'd be good enough to make a run at the BE. If they can beat UF, they're good enough to compete with all the best BE teams.

I agree with you pride but it just seems that with Washington, Webster, Baker and TREX getting early praises from the coach it seems less likely that Bryant would see the field as much on that side of the ball. Also Butler and Dixon in the mix also.

yeah but what do you really have at corner?  Washington is still slender, has never blown anyone away yet, and is reluctant to hit.  Webster's best position is probably free-safety, Baker's renaissance thus far has only translated on the practice field, and T-Rex largely played rover and FS while at Hills High.  This same defensive backfield allowed Dontavia Bogan, a guy that's really mostly a very good possession receiver, to toast them for over 200 yards in a spring game.  Until Washington, and Baker show in the game that they've truly turned the corner, and until T-Rex gets in a game and rpvoes to be the real deal then you've got to keep Bryant around at corner.  A team like us, especially in the BE where we face 3-4 spread offenses, will need 5-6 corners throughout the season.

ning game

Make up your mind man, are we going to get beat by 3-4 spread offenses, or by teams that run a power running game. (reference to "Fast Times at Ridgemont High") Hopefully one of our interrior linemen play like Forest Whitaker did in that game.  ;D

As mama said, you don't have to play just because you got a hardship waiver.  We are so desperate for WRs right now it is ridiculous not to at least try.  If he did play, you'd hope we recruit some guys this year to replace Boyd's lost year many years from now.

We have a nice mix, you need different size players with different speeds and skills.  Then you look to get mismatches.

From the article:

Holtz said he spent Sunday night sharing a history lesson about Dodgertown. He said he told his players about all the “great sports teams that have been through this facility and the number of championships that started right here.â€

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
