I am really happy about all of this....from the trend of coordinators who become head coaches-fail and then go back to coordinating; they always seem to be better for that experience

Saw on ESPN Twitter feed that Snyder was also up for the DC job at Houston and Stanford.  Makes me feel good to know that he was sought after by others and chose us.

ahh  don't know about this one but Holtz seems to be getting the guys he wants.  I wonder if this will open a little recruiting areas further to the north.

New USF coach Skip Holtz met with the assistants from Jim Leavitt's staff, and five full-time assistants -- including coordinators Mike Canales and Joe Tresey -- will not be retained.

Three other assistants -- offensive line coach Mike Simmonds, linebackers coach David Blackwell and special-teams coach John Hendrick -- will also not stay on as part of Holtz's staff.

Two assistants -- offensive line coach Larry Scott and defensive line coach Kevin Patrick, have been retained, while two others -- running backs coach Carl Franks and receivers coach Phil McGeoghan -- will stay on staff and be evaluated at a later date

University of South Florida head coach Skip Holtz added five assistants to his coaching staff on Monday, including two assistant coaches who have been a part of national championship staffs during the last decade and one with professional championships under his belt.

The new additions are defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Mark Snyder, offensive coordinator and running backs coach Todd Fitch, defensive ends and special teams coach Vernon Hargreaves, quarterbacks coach Peter Vaas and defensive backs coach Rick Smith.

The man in charge of the Defense when OSU won the title was Mark Dantonio not snyder... None the less was a great coach on OSU staff and was later aftr Dantonio left the head DC... Great pick up..
