It was metal bits and plastic over the field last night, though I don't know if the old sod was already pulled up or not.  But there was the huge stage and then about 8,000 people standing on top of the covers.  That setup weighs around 200 tons, so I'm sure any grass wouldn't be a huge fan of that sitting on it and then the people would weigh an additional 600 tons or so when all combined. 

I think the field will be in fantastic shape since we're getting all new turf and I don't know if we'd get the whole USF works if not for this show.  I'd love to see USF in the end zones.  The logo in the middle and the Big East logos as well.

Hopefully this will be a great week for RayJay.  72,000 last night, most ever at the stadium, so a gate of over $7 million and then concession sales had to be huge at $6.75 for beer and $4.75 for a soda.  Wouldn't be surprised if there was an additional revenue of a million bucks from concessions. 

And of course the businesses nearby benefited as did the people selling parking on their land. 

And they'll get another big boon on Thursday.  I'd guess they'll have at least 55,000 there and maybe get up past 60,000.

hypothetical...If the sod doesn't take hold... and the field is sloppy/slow... who does that favor?

Isn't the Glazer's concession deal that they get the first $2M from all events from the year and then concessions are split with the home team/event after that? If I have remembered correctly, then USF could get some concession money this year.
