I heard a line in the movie that made me think about the game in Tally. 

When Picard goes to enlist Kirk's help:

Kirk: "I take it the odds are against us and the situation is grim."

Picard: "You could say that."

Kirk: "Sounds like fun!"

Yes, the odds are are against us, and it may be a grim day.  But how much more fun can this be?  Paying Bowden's Noles (even though he isn't really in charge) at Doak Campbell Stadium in the afternoon!
