This is a LONG term project... climbing from the depths of the big east.  This is a 6 or 7 year project, minimum.  There is no way we are changing coaches unless the coach leaves on his own.

Hey, sport...how 'bout keeping the common sense, rational thinking to yourself, ok?

This is not the proper forum for that line of behavior.

Do we have any leftover pitchforks and torches from previous seasons?

Yes - defintely.  The Big East is a basketball beast.  The team is better this year than last.  Given the recruiting challenges of being a no-name basketball school I just don't see how anyone is going to coach this team to BE competitiveness in less than 4 years.   Now if we aren't at least in the middle of the conference standings this time 2013, then yeah, let's look at the coach.

It will take time, but CSH has coached at this level, and I like what I see so far, but to build a team basically from scratch in the best conference in the NCAA, you can't expect to see great results in a year and a half.

Exactly. Coach Heath needs a couple of more recruiting classes to get the program where he would like. He has a good number of scholarships to work with for April's signing period. I would be curious to see how many he uses then and how many he saves for November.

what a dumb topic. heath isn't going anywhere. he is the best thing thats happened to this team. when he does leave down the line, whether fired, quits, or whatever, the team will be in much better condition then it was when he first arrived

Velco, South_Florida_Flip, AstroBull, and all other great posters let me run this by you and see what you'll think about it.

The OP did have one very important thing right. Coach Heath needs to get a better staff. Behind every great coach you will normally find that he has really good assistant coaches. Heath has Hipsher, Hansen, and Samuels on the bench. To my knowledge Hipsher doesn't really recruit but coaches the offense and helps with player development. I don't have a real problem with what he does.

On the other hand Samuels and Hansen main job is to be Bulldog recruiters. Research and talking to someone in the know, the only player Samuels has contributed to USF is Alex Rivas Sanchez. Hansen seems to be more famous for losing players then getting them. He was the lead recruiter for Pitts, Simmons, Stewart, and Clanton to name a few.

We know that USF has to upgrade the facilities and the fan base has to increase, but what about upgrading assistant coaches?

Both Mark Gottfried(Bama) and Denis Felton(Georgia) have lost thier jobs this week. I say Heath fires two assistants and promote Woody and hire either Felton or Gottfried. Woody has a lot of connections and I want him able to go on the road and recruit. If we hire Gottfried we get Eric Bledsoe and be in play for any major talent in the state of Alabama. In Felton we get a coach that knows the state of Georgia well and he can help us pluke some of the great talent out of that state.

Also both Felton and Gottfried teams play tough defense and really rebound. They can bring that to our team which is are areas we struggle with sometimes.

Now if not them maybe we can hire some young hungry assistant with ties to USF and to the state of Florida. Whoever it may be, we have to get some bench coaches that can contribute to this program.

WHy couldn't stan flip the switch and make a competitive team overnight?

THis whole thread is stupid.

Give Stan two more seasons.  Heck, the middle of the road BE teams go to the NIT or NCAA Tourney.  I think he can get us there in two years.

We may NEVER be a top team in the BE.  But if we could get some post season each year I'd be happy.

I dont know if some of you realize this, but Athletics is not like going to Mcdonalds.

You cant go up to a drive thru window and order a championship and get it in 5 minutes.

I thought this post was "tongue-in-cheek."

Correct.

Until I started reading some of the posts, and it did get me thinking.  These are his recruits.  AS I recall in the football bashing, and Loss is a Loss, it doesnt get us anymore to lose by a little.

We are no where near aggressive enough for the Big Beast, those are all items that should be in the flow at this point.

But, they are better than last year, and this was intended to be a tug at those who think CJL should go with all we have accomplished with the pigskin.

OK, for all the CJL bashers out there, I will start this, Heath and his staff should go.  Unless we can take the MBB team independent so we do not have to be the whipping boys for the Big East, he is not the coach for this level.

We have the most undersized, lease aggressive team in the conference, and honestly I do not think they could beat the UConn Women's team 3-5.

So, if you think CJL should go because we cannot get to the next level, maybe we can save money and pack two coaches on one truck.

haha! this post is about as dumb as your picture
