Guest BasketBull.
There's this established echelon in college football, where the press and the coaches, along with the fans, have in their heads who's who and so on -the USCs, the Ohio States...The old guards do not get replaced by the newbies, even when those programs are not doing so well.Ohio State almost lost at home to Ohio and nobody even flinched. On the other hand, they called Kansas' first two games soft and cupcakes. Last year USC got beat by Stanford at home and they wiped that right off.Kansas has had a long history of poor football, while USF is a newbie that got thumped in the Sun Bowl. Result, this year's rankings can't overcome the perception and established echelon. (Hardly anybody talked about what a great game it was last night.)Let's see what happens on Sunday and Monday when the rankings come out, but they may punish Kansas for losing to USF. As for the Bulls, they will probably bump us up a few spots and that's it.

Still, the kids table in the elite Top 25 is a place that just 5 years ago seemed a long way off. We were at the table for ugly orphans (no offense to orphans or the unbeautiful). UCiF is out in the cold, damp alley eating our leftovers.

Of course it was Grothe quotes about UCF being the dirtiest team in CFB and about all the personal fouls.Speaking of penalties, man we have improved greatly, a few years ago we put up penalty numbers like UCF did last week. How did we get to number 2 last year, where was the "established echelon" then? The fact that we were ranked this preseason after key losses on defense shows that we have respect by the voters. And yes people did look at the Ohio/Ohio State game and DID notice, that's why so many think USC will dismantle them. I think your opinion must have been formed from reading rants by disgruntled Kansas fans and USF detractors, and by Big 12 members that were mad that Kansas was rated so high. But Kansas was voted high. There are just as many, if not more, including ESPN that want new blood at the top. We have been ranked more weeks this season and last then not. We just need to keep playing hard and winning to stay there.

Guest nybullsfan
Hey. At least we're in the dining room. Better than sitting outside in the dirt. Give it time.

Unless something similar happens again this year I don't know if we'll crack the Top 10. But if we keep winning it will at least give us that chance.
