Why do we close so poorly?? Admittedly, I don't watch much of the basketball team, but it seems everytime I watch them, they keep it close or at least respectable, and then with about 10 minutes left, they start playing like middle schoolers. What is the deal?

We're young, our only player with much experience is KG.  And he shoots free throws like he's behind the half court line.

How old is Esseigeer (sp.)

I cant get thru watching a game without laughing because they make the same mistakes over and over again. previous coach didnt do his job. heath will get it turned around, he just has to get the talent.

if you think its bad this year, next year will be worse

Free Throws and Passing are where we lack the most.

Heath has to have a couple of years to let his recruiting have time to make an impact.  Still, looks like we're going to do worse than I had hoped this year, I thought I was a realist.

Esseghir is a senior walk-on.

I wish that game were at the sun dome... that felt like an away game.  Having a conference game at an alternative site feels like we end up losing one home game, giving us just one more disadvantage.

Defense and FT's are our biggest problems, and the poor defense is why teh FT's are hurting so much, because they know they can foul our guys and we'll shoot a low %, and they score almost every time down court.

Our man to man is really bad.  Stan is a coach that likes to play man defense, but when your guys can't stop anybody from getting to the hole - you gotta play zone.

It is just like any sport, you have to play hard for the full allotted time.  You have to want it and want it bad.

Let me state up front that I beileve we have the talent.  We as fans have to help make them as players believe they have the talent and that they can and will win.  A little constructive criticism is fine, but we need to do more to encourage the team.  The talent is there.  Some of the players need to take a more definitive stand as leaders on the team, both through leadership, guidance and support, as well as taking the bull by the horns, so to speak, and taking shots when you are on to get the points, instead of slowing the pace down continually which gives the other team a chance to recover.

Get back to doing the basics well; move on offense, follow your shots, crash the boards with at least 3 all the time, stay between your man the the hoop on defense, better conditioning to help get to the end of the game, and practice, practice, practice those foul shots.

GO BULLS... the season isn't over and there are alot of games still to be won

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

    Terry Lucas, 09/26/22
