I asked a guy who I work with about the Auburn travel.  He went to Auburn and told me that ATL is closer than BHM by about 30 min.  This was from someone who traveled in and out of Alabama for school.

The only thing is that even though BHM is 30 minutes further away than ATL to Auburn, you're not going to get  a cheap SWA flight into ATL unless you flew Airtran (ATL is their hub).  SWA goes into BHM and I would imagine that the cluster f*ck at ATL will delay you more than 30 min anyways especially on Friday afternoon/night.  I figure BHM would be better for flying in, so that is what I will probably do.

Got a room in Opeleika last night for $41 a night for 9/14 and 9/15

You might want to check that rate. It says $141 when I checked. And just so you know this is like a motel. Hotel room doors open up to the outside.

Hmmm...you definately want to check that reservation again. I'm seeing $140/night for those nights.

...was very disappointed in this hotel. Aside from the fact that it was not clean, we asked for a wake up call and it never came, causing us to run very late in the morning for a meeting. For the amount of money that I paid, if should have been cleaner.

Sportsfans, we live in a you-get-what-you-pay for world. If you're just looking for a place to triple-S before the game, I'm sure there's plenty of Motel Six, EconoLodge type of places along the highway. On the other hand, there are a number of us who - how to phrase this - prefer a modicum of comfort and camaraderie, it's not always a dollar bill decision.

Needless to say, I'll be finding something really cheep
