High school gyms

Dang, we’re playing in some high school gyms this season! FAU and UTSA games on tonight and those “arenas” can’t seat more than a couple thousand. Don’t know about the other new schools.

Also, I watched a good bit of FAU-ECU, SMU-Charlotte and UAB-UTSA. We should be able to play with any of them. There’s no reason we can’t finish in the top half of this league.

Noticed the same thing. At least I’ve seen the USF banner/emblem in these “arenas”.  Been to Tulane and ECU, and I felt like some high schools somewhere were missing their gyms…made me appreciate the Yuengling Center that much more.  High school gyms - reason # 264 why we need to get out of this conference.

Agreed.

Which is also what blows my mind that we've had so much difficulty fielding a decent basketball team. Our resources are outstanding in basketball and have been for a while.

I could have memory issues as I get older, but I swear I remember that few of the smaller Big East schools had high school level gyms that they used for some of their less popular games.  Sure they played at places like MSG for the big games, but for games against smaller schools?   Good old practice gym for those games.

Years ago the PHL Big 5 schools (Nova,Temple,St Joes, Penn and Lasalle) would play bigger opponents at what was then the Spectrum. Remember when Georgetown played those teams it usually wasn't played on campus.  Most had small venues on campus. Haven't lived up in that area in 20+ years so not sure how that has changed.
