My Simple Year in Review

First two games were not impressed and still wondering what team we had. 1-1

The next 3 was very hopeful. 3-2

Then a rollercoaster ride of not knowing.  5-6

Final game was great! 6-6

A lower ACC team, but will be tough. I feel it will be a win. Will go a long way to see what team we have for 2024.

The Bad - I don't feel we played well this year at all. I feel we have had maybe 1 or 2 complete games. The rest of the games either the offense played well and the defense sucked or vice versa. 

The Good -

1.  #17 in offense

2. Top 10 in TFLs and improved in all defensive statistics

3. We still went 6-6 playing badly. Just imagine when we start playing well?

Top 10 in TFL’s and #128 in total defense. That’s BAD.

Makes sense why we are 6-6 though if you combined reason 1 and 2 with a bottom five defense overall in college football. At least we are trying to get nasty in the trenches and unleash the haitian wardaddies again.

Correction we are 124/133 in total defense thanks to Charlotte. We were a bottom five before that game. Even after the Charlotte game we are ranked 133/133 for passing defense. The only team in fbs football to average 300 or more yards passing against per game. Next closet is STanford with 298 passing yards against per game.

Bend don't break. Charlotte had 14 points.

My simple review:

We did better than I thought we would, even if in an extremely weak conference.  

We seemed to learn from mistakes and get better in different facets.

Especially on offense, it was becoming fun to watch...Defense had it's highlights too, but had some lowlights as well.

We did hot have Jeff v2.0.  Coach Go has the energy and it seems determination to win.  I'm looking forward to next season.

We beat all the bad teams, but this would probably be the best win?  Could be a progress indicator.

Outside of our secondary, I never felt like other teams were more athletic or that much more athletic. A majority of the losses or disappointments I attribute to our lack of execution or play calling.
