The offense is averaging 3 turnovers a game and a crapload of 3 & outs and bad 4th down attempts.  In a majority of those events we gave the other team's offense the ball in their territory. Stop it!!!! Besides the play of the secondary, we have been doing well on defense. But if the offense keeps giving the other team the ball in their territory and not allowing the defense to catch their breath with so many quick 3 & outs then they will not be able to perform better. Its evident that the defense's biggest obstacle has been our own offense.

The defense played awful yesterday lots of missed tackles and broken plays. The offense is not doing them any favors turning ball over and going 3 and out. Playing fast is only effective when you are moving the ball down the field.

We need to find a running games with our running backs and start hitting the short and intermediate  passes more like slants, curls, and screens. Our rushing offense is basically Brown scrambling on broken plays or a few read option runs. I suspect the offensive line and receivers are below average is the reason. I'd like to see what some the true freshmen could bring in with Smith and Kelly to try to add some spark to the offense. It appears our receivers are not fast enough or good enough route runners to consistently create separation.  This is why I wonder why we try so man deep balls instead of use more play designs in short and intermediate routes.

What I wonder is that on the OC or is that on Brown. We have multiple receivers they aren't all running deep.

This offense is very hit and miss. It's not helping the defense at all.

We definitely take the field position battle for granted. Most teams will capitalize on that. Especially if our defense is gassed. Tempo is great, but if you’re quickly going 3 & out you’re really killing the defense

We had 3 turnovers and was 2-5 on 4th down. That mean we handed the ball to the other team in their territory 6 times.

I agree we have to do better protecting the hall and field position. When the offense does its part the defense has been decent, but they can’t be expected to make miracles every game

Lol was the defense gassed after the INT on the second possession when UAB drove that 90 yard short field?  They should not have been too tired since UAB only had to run two plays the first possession.

The fumble was terrible.  everything else yesterday was after we were down 21+ and across the 50, except the last garbage time 4th down we converted. Field position was irrelevant and will be irrelevant for many more games this year as this is a basketball score conference and era.

The defense absolutely earned any criticism they get yesterday.

Don’t know what the defense was going through. Obviously yesterday was a complete disaster. A post mortem is needed to make big time corrections. The defensive side seemed to have veteran leadership, coaching wise that was masking deficiencies. I’m at a loss for how they didn’t make adjustments. Maybe our lack of depth is being exposed.

Coach didn’t seem too upset by this. Maybe we chalk it up to the weather, lack of humidity, or lack enthusiasm in general. Next game
