I took a break during the blowouts, but now that we are on a 1 game-winning streak, I might as well keep it going. We have more players with Sacks and TFLs than in the past few years. It would be nice if we had our sack leader Jason Vaughn but he is out for the season. That has really hindered our pass rush. We have 4 games to achieve my wishlist of 25-30 sacks, 85+ TFLs, and 10 INTs this year. I'll be happy to just reach 20 sacks this year. As for TFLs, we are still on track for 85  and can still reach 10 ints if we get 1 per game.

In 2021 We only had -

  • 9 sacks and 6 players that recorded sacks.
  • 49 TFLs and 17 players that recorded sacks.

2022-

  • only 8 players recorded a sack

17 players that recorded TFL?

Always great info!

Whoops, I meant TFLs. We have surpassed that by 4 this year and hopefully will improve as the year goes by.

My goals for this defense:

Original – 25-30 sacks, 85+ TFLs (On Track), and 10 INTs

Updated with the last 3 games - 22-25sacks, 85+ TFLs (On Track), and 7 INTs this year. I'll be happy to just reach 20 sacks this year. As for TFLs, we are still on track for 85+ and can even get to 90 TFLs and 7-8 ints. I would like for us to improve from last year.

Unfortunately TFL's on 1st and 2nd down are worthless when you can't seal the deal on 3rd down.

I attribute that to bad 3rd down play calling. Those blitzes are killing us b/c we can not defend the pass.

Not sure it matters with this group we could put everyone into coverage and they still would make the first down.

I think this secondary is lacking speed along with talent.

And your point? The dline is certainly not going to get to the qb by themselves. If you have no dline pressure and virtually no cover skills on the backend TFL's don't matter.
